Petruchio: "Villain, I say, knock me at this gate/ And rap me well, or I'll knock your knave's pate" (1.2.11-12).

This is a funny scene as Grumio and Pertruchio are joking and being silly on whether they should knock the door. Grumio asks a dumb question on if this is where he should knock. Pertruchio follows up by making fun of him for the stupid question, saying he should punch him.

Hortensio: "Why, no; for she hath broke the lute to me. / I did but tell her she mistook her frets, / And bow's her hand to teach her fingering, /
When, with a most impatient devilish spirit, / 'Frets, call you these?' quoth she; 'I'll fume with / them! ' / And, with that word, she struck me on the head, / And through the instrument my pate made way, / And there I stood amazed for a while" (2.1.155-163)

This quote is amusing because Hortensio tries to teach Kate how to play the lute and she takes it and hits him on the head with it. He is caught off guard, so he stands there confused.

Widow: "Right, I mean you."

Katherine: "And I am mean indeed, respecting you."

Petruchio: "To her Kate!"

Hortensio: "To her, widow!"

Petrucio: "A hundred marks, my Kate does put her down."

In this scene, Petruchio and the widow engage in dialogue poking fun at Hortensio, but when Katherine joins in, she begins arguing with the widow. Petruchio and Hortensio start cheering on their fight because it is amusing and comedic to them.
