         <description><![CDATA[<div>I noticed that at the beginning of the story Elie really didn't know why he worshipped,&nbsp; he just knew that it was a natural everyday thing. Part of this probably to do with his age. When you do something so often and for so long you usually expect results but in Elie's case he didn't see any. He felt as if he was abandoned. This is why I believe he was so easily separated from his faith he had devoted so much effort too.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Its important to realize Elie did not chose to separate from his faith because he felt he was being punished. He separated from his faith because he felt abandoned. He stated it would have been better to be punished than flat out abandoned. He realizes at this point that all that praying he did possibly isn't working.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe Elie had no choice but to question his faith. The Nazi's were the cause. They killed his faith and the ideology he believed in. It is stated that Elie did not deny a gods existence, but questioned his authority. Elie knew there was a god but he also knew he would never look at him the same again.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Even though Elie is losing faith he still continues to call out to God. It is the only hope he has left. It is all he has known to do for so long and its almost impossible for him to entirely lose it. This is why I believe eventually in his life he began to return back to faith.</div>]]></description>

He refuses to believe he would just be abandoned like that. For the first time he feels angry with God. After so much silence its no wonder he stays like this throughout the entire book. He just cannot understand why his people were being ignored.</div>]]></description>

Something bad starts, we fix it, another bad thing happens. We send messages to humanity by steering them in the direction we believe is right. Shunning the evil and showing pride in the good.
