Summary- In Animal Farm, George Orwell writes about a group of animals being mistreated by their owner, Mr Jones. One of the pigs, Old Major, calls an assembly in the barn and talks of how mistreated they are, and how if they led themselves, they would have a better life. This speech leads to a rebellion, which drives Jones out of the farm and leaves the animals alone to lead themselves. The pigs appoint themselves as the leaders, saying that they are the smartest, so they are the best fit to lead. After coming up with a set of rules, the two main leaders, Snowball and Napolean, come to a disagreement regarding whether or not they should build a windmill. Snowball agrees, while Napolean disagrees. While the animals are having a discussion on whether or not to build it, Napolean's dogs chase Snowball out of the farm, leaving Napolean as the only leader. Once Napolean is left alone, animal farm changes drastically. Suddenly, Napolean is on board with the windmill. He manipulates the animals into thinking that he was on board with the windmill the entire time, and they all begin constructing. When the windmill is partly constructed, a violent storm comes and knocks it over. The animals are heartbroken, but quickly start rebuilding. Shortly after the windmill topples over, Napolean starts talking about how Snowball was the bad guy, and was on Jones side the whole time. He says that all the bad things happening to the animals are Snowball's doing, and the animals believe him. Suddenly, animals come forward and confess affiliating with Snowball, and they get killed on the spot, scaring the animals. After a while, Napolean starts breaking the 7 commandments, but has Squealer change the commandments in the night so none of the animals find out. However, even after catching him in the act, the animals don't understand still. As time passes on, more and more of the commandments get changed, and the animals get manipulated more and more, until even they can't tell the difference between the pigs and humans.
