I personally would like to suggest Sai Kung East Country Park as the destination for the school picnic. The major reason that I chose this place is it’s such a mammoth area. It has a vast 4,494 hectares. It encompasses everything that’s great about natural Hong Kong such as beautiful beaches, hiking trails, grassy slopes, hills and coves. Don’t expect to come and do it all in one day.

I really enjoy the time spent in the country parks. The Parks give people fresh air to breathe, facilities to do exercises and finally take rest in Benches. This gives peace of mind and relaxation to all of us.
                    (85 words)

Miss Emilia Zhang (4A)

I would suggest Tai Mo Shan Country Park which borders Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve in the east and Shing Mun Country Park in the south.

We can visit the exhibition gallery there to learn about nature conservation and resources conservation. This is also one of the only places in Hong Kong to experience frost regularly. The combination of mist and frost creates a stunning visual spectacle well worth the effort.

I would definitely go there in my spare time. As the highest peak in Hong Kong, the park offers many vantage points to enjoy breathtaking landscapes of the New Territories and walks that are suitable for family hikes.
(109 words)
Ms Sherry Zhang (4C)

I love the place mainly because it provides various activities for visitors with similar interests.

Hikers can take time to admire the breathtaking views of the mountains when they walk along the hiking trials. The enormous trees offer the best shade to keep hillwalkers cool, especially in summer. There is a relaxing sitting area for those who need to have a break. Such as : The Rose Myrtle and The Common Kingfisher. There is also a barbecue area that tourists can barbecue delicious food there.
Walking up Aberdeen Reservoir Road along the catchwater, you will soon arrive at a fitness trail with many unusual fitness facilities. Try lifting yourself up on bars of different heights, or test your balancing power on jagged wooden piles. Here in the woods, there is fun for all ages. I would also take photo of the amazing birds .
I am sick of breathing polluted air in the city, so , I am going to this breath-taking country park this weekend, and so should you!
Jasmine Pang ( 4A18 )

Do you like to go to country parks? If yes,I would recommend Jinshan Country Parks for you nature fans!
Jinshan Country Park is located north of Kowloon and well known for its monkeys. They have four reservoirs and a prepossessing view, like Kowloon reservoir as an example, and it has what a normal country park should have: jogging trails, barbecue areas and places for picnic, which is easily accessible from Tai Po Road.
Since Jinshan Country Park is famous for its monkeys…it’s not a surprise that monkeys are common in this areas,so monkey fans are also welcome here. However, bear in mind that since people visit here often, they are used to being not scared of humans and stealing their belongings.I advise you to be careful around your surroundings .
As for its history,Jinshan Country Park was established and made on 24th June,1977 and was also known as Monkey hill.
In my opinion, the park is not only easy to hike, giving the visitor a satisfying experience,it even got a nice view.

There are lots of country park in Hong Kong. The most I like is Tai Lam Country Park which is the second highest country park. It is a big area to hike since there’s 5,412 hectares in total. Tai Lam Country Park is designed in 1979. It encompasses a vast area extending from Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun. The boundaries lie along Route Twisk in the east; the countryside north of Tuen Mun Highway in the south; Shek Kong, the Ho Pui Catchments and Tai Tong in the north; and Tuen Mun and Lam Tei Reservoir in the west. Commenced in 1951, this monumental project included the major task of constructing a main dam. The magnificent enclosure was the most impressing concrete structure in Hong Kong at the time. Towering 150 ft above the lake, it boasts pipelines that cover the entire Kowloon Peninsula to link up with the territory-wide water supply network. There’s full of animals and fresh air, we can hike there comfortably to make our body healthier.
4A 19 Vincy Sing

If you like to go to country parks, I like to suggest you to go to Clear Water Bay because I think it is a great spot for parents and kids to have fun! Clear Water Bay is a rural country park which is located in the New Territories of the eastern Hong Kong. The park is located near the beaches in Clear Water Bay. I like this park because I can fly a kite there and picnic with my family or friends. The view is amazing too! When I was four, I went to Clear Water Bay to picnic. When I arrived, I immediately fell in love with the view. After that day, I always ask my parents to take me there cause we can Barbecue there and swim there. As I don’t know how to swim when I was small, my dad took me to there every Sunday to teach me how to swim.
In history,Clear Water Bay is founded in 1991. It is a bay on the eastern shore of Clear Water Bay Peninsula of Hong Kong, located with Clear Water Bay Country Park. There are two beaches at Clear Water Bay. “Clear Water Bay First Beach”and “Clear Water Bay Second Beach”. The name is also used to discribe the the area around the bay on the peninsula.
This is the end of my sharing thank you for reading.
4C Haley Tang (19)

My favorite country park is Clear Water Bay. It has beautiful views of nature. If you are feeling stressed, I highly recomand you to go to Clear Water Bay. It helps you relax even just looking at it! I have been there twice, once with my friends and once with my family. There is a gorgeous rock called 'Lung Ha Wan Rock Carving' .Some believed that it was carved by men, and the others believed that it was from nature. There is also two beaches in Clear water bay which has shark nets and lifeguards during the summer months and are joined together by a shoreline path. The first beach is smaller than the second one, the second one is ideal for drivers, with metre-parking close by. I like this park because it is very beautiful and special. There are two restaurants in Clear water bay. The first one is called 'St . Barts' and the second one is called'Che Chai Mean'. If you ask me, I like 'St. Barts' more because their decorations are more attracting. The restaurant offers a range of sweet and savory choices, with a well balanced menu of light snacks and meals. When I was 4 years old, my father taught me hoe to swim in Clear Water Bay.I was frightened at first, but then, when I learned how to swim properly, I even taught my uncle!

I will highly recommend Sai Kung East Country Park if we are going on a school picnic. Sai Kung East Country Park is designated in 1978 and occupy a vast area of east Sai Kung Peninsula and High Island Reservoir, High Island, Sheung Yiu, Wong Shek Pier and the surrounding countryside. It should be the best to watch the sunset at west dam! Covering 4,494 hectares of uplands and coasts, it has the largest number of bays and coves among all country parks. Scenic spots within the park are numerous. Examples include the four most famous beaches in Hong Kong ( Sai Wan, Ham Tin Wan, Tai Wan, Tung Wan, and the precipitous Sharp peak ) Other attractions are Po Pin Chau, Long Ke Wan, Luk Wu, Long Harbour and Chek Keng. There is a wide choice of country trails. Some orbit around the coasts, while others travel through rugged and wild terrain. We can hike there!

There are a lot of park facilities such as tables and benches, litter bins, shelters and toilets which are carefully designed to blend with the environment.
Footpaths and family walks provide easy access to the hills and the woodlands for visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty.

I would like to recommend Aberdeen Country Park. Aberdeen Country Park is located on the south end of Hong Kong Island near the area called Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Much of the south side of the island is underdeveloped and retains more of the rural feel that predominated on the island before it was settled by the British. The park extends to Wan Chai Gap on the north. The woods in the area are frequented by birds, and are especially a favourite of the black-eared kite which can be seen flying around the two reservoirs. Other birds frequenting the area are the greater coucal, hwamei, magpie-robin, magpie, crested mynah and kingfisher. Occasionally visitors may also catch a glimpse of the pangolin or squirrel. As in Tai Tam Country Park, most of the trees in the Aberdeen Country Park area suffered ravages during the Second World War and the Japanese occupation. The now well-shaded woods are mainly the result of post war re-afforestation as well as natural regeneration of many of the broad-leafed species. The dominant trees in the park are the Brisbane box, schima, gordonia, ivy tree and rose myrtle.

If our school is going on a picnic,I will suggest going to Dragon’ back country park. The air is fresh and it’s not too hot and you can hike while listening to the birds .With the help of shades of the trees , it’s not tiring walking up the hill. When I went there ,the view is fantastic. when the trail naturally ends at Shek O Road, many hikers grab a taxi or a bus to Shek O Village to hang by the beach, or enjoy some snacks nearby. Short but incredibly scenic, dragon‘ s back is a favorite hike for families and athletic travelers. but its easy accessibility draws a local crowd, too, especially on weekends. plan accordingly, or be prepared to share the views if you come too late as hundreds of people descend on the trail. If there is no time to eat lunch in Shek O, you can easily take a cab to central or Chai WanMTR station. meanwhile ,those who have extra time can continue on to the Tai Tam reservoir, for more green views and fresh air.

This is a popular hiking trail, but not a beginner one. It is filled with mud, big rocks and quite a lot long stairs which requires a lot of energy. You need about 3.5 hours to finish it and must be exhausted after that.
As a reward, you can see a lot of Chinese Bell Flowers there. It is a special type of flower that always blooms in Chinese New Year. They are so pretty. You just can’t stop taking photos of it.

You can see streams too. There are some big rocks inside which makes it a nice place to rest. It is so relaxing to sit down there, looking at the beautiful natural scenery and hearing the water moving sound.

I have spent a nice day there, hope you can go there with your family next year!

(162 words)

4C Megan Wong (25)

At the end of the walk, we can visit the Woodside Biodiversity Education Centre which is highly educational and helps us enrich our knowledge about the biodiversity such as insects and soils of the country park.
I enjoy going to Tai Tam Country Park because we can enjoy the natural scenes and have good hiking experience as well as learn about the nature of Hong Kong with our families and friends.

Among all the country parks in Hong Kong, I highly recommend Ma On Shan Country Park in the New Territories. It has a great view of Sai Kung and a beautiful environment. There is fresh air and many kinds of plants, such as shrubs, flowers, and grass.
My family and I usually go there to have picnics and watch people parachuting. We enjoy going there in our spare time on Sundays, but it is too far for us to go there often. We can go there by taking bus number 51 in Tsuen Wan.

The reason I suggest to go to this country park is due to its spectacular panoramic view of the New Territories. On clear days, we can view the Northern and Western New Territories, as well as the Yuen Long and Pat Heung plains. We can even see Shekou and Shenzhen on good days. Also, there are lots of facilities for group outings.

There are campsite and barbecue stoves and we can have barbecues and camping there. We can also join the Tai Mo Shan Orienteering Course to study the natural environment there.

Sai Kung East Country Park is designed in 1978. I went there when I was 5 years old. We joined a local tour held by UNESCO Global Geopark. We took a mini bus and spent about half an hour to get there. Once I hopped out of the car, from the high point of view, it was stunning! There’s a High Island Reservoir surrounded by a spectacular embarkment. High Island Reservoir is the largest reservoir in the territory, and the grandest man-made construction within the park. The water is in sky blue and the water surface is so calm and clear. There’s no human activities like swimming, or camping. It looks like just nature made.

Another signature sight seeing point is its S-shaped Hexagonal Rock Columns. The rocks have 140 millions year ago history. The rock columns formed due to volcanic explosion. By looking at the rock columns, the blocks are so huge that I am comparatively so tiny.

The day I went there was in summer.

I would like to go there again in winter because I want to feel the nature in different weather.

If our school will have a picnic, I will suggest the Plover Cove Country Park in Tai Po. I suggest this country park because the scenery is beautiful beyond description. There are many popular activities we can do in this country park. You can have a hike in the Tai Mei Tuk Family Walk which is about 1 km long. It is suitable for all kinds of people because it only takes you 30 minutes to walk. You can rent a bicycle in the nearby bicycle rental shops. If you don’t like cycling, you can stroll along the path on the main dam in Plover Cove Reservoir. You can have barbecue in the public BBQ site. Next to the reservoir , you can find the Long Mei Beach which is the first artificial beach built by the government. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the magnificent view of sunset. I have been to the Plover Cove Country Park many times. It is spacious and the view is breathtaking. It is a wonderful place to spend a whole day with friends and family.
I hope you enjoy my sharing. Thank you.

Ashley Tang 4B 22

Today, I would like to introduce the Hong Kong Island's "back garden"- Aberdeen Country Park. This country park is located in the Southern District on Hong Kong Island. It is one of the oldest country parks in Hong Kong.

Aberdeen Country Park is very big. Visitors can enter Aberdeen Country Park from Aberdeen, Wan Chai or even The Peak. Morning walkers and elders enjoy jogging there. I live near this country park so I can often go there with my family during weekends and holidays. My grandfather said he needed to walk through the park to work in Wanchai from Aberdeen every day in the past. It is such a long way.

Aberdeen Country Park is the only country park on Hong Kong Island with a picnic area for the disabled. Disabled visitors and old people can explore the countryside and enjoy natural scenery like us on their wheelchairs. There is a kiosk in the park. I enjoy buying snacks, drinks and small toys there. There is also a barbecue area nearby. However, due to Covid-19, the area was closed all the time.

I think the most exciting thing to do in the park is to play on the different kinds of fitness training facilities there. My sister and I enjoy playing on the climbing frames and walking on the balancing wooden piles.

There are many amazing things that you can see in the park. You can walk on a bridge and look at the beautiful view of the Aberdeen Reservior. If you are lucky, you can also see some wild animals in the park. You may see a family of wild pigs and some colourful birds. The trees and flowers there are beautiful too.

I think Aberdeen Country Park is one of the most beautiful places in Hong Kong. It is easy to get there. I highly recommend you to go and visit this place in your free time. I am sure you will love this place a lot.

4C (10) Kate Lee

Aberdeen Country Park is the only country park on Hong Kong Island with a picnic area for the physically disabled. Disabled visitors can use the wheelchair trail to explore the countryside and enjoy natural scenery. One day, I played the hopter and rope skipping with my sister, then I ate barbecue food. Suddenly, some wild boars smelled some plastic bags to find food such as bread, meat and vegetables. I was very scared of them. I ran away my daddy back quickly until the wild boars left.

I would like to recommend Sai Kung East Country Park which is located on the Sai Kung Peninsula in the east of Hong Kong. It is very suitable for hiking. As most of the landforms and vegetation in this country park have not been affected by development, it has beautiful scenery and numerous scenic spots. Therefore, it has the reputation of Hong Kong's back garden. The High Island Reservoir is one of the most famous scenic spots in the country park which is my favorite place for visiting. It is as calm as a mirror, such as a Xanadu. I am sure it is a great place for friends or family to explore.

4B Sabrina Yeung(28)

Clear Water Bay is the best country park I've been so far. It is located in Sai Kung.
I suggest this country park because it is very beautiful at sunset.
I usually fly a kite on the top of the mountains. It is a very relaxing activity.
I also often have a barbecue at a barbecue area, there are many people barbecuing there. It looks very popular.
I enjoy picnicking very much too.
I can eat delicious food such as egg salad sandwiches, salads, chicken wings, and drink soft drinks.
We saw many dogs and wild dogs with no owners. They looked so sad. I wish I could adopt them, but my dad says our house isn't big enough.
I seldom go to this country park, but I like going to this country park very much in my spare time.
thank you all for reading!
                                              - AUDREY NG
4B (20)
