They demanded the the Israeli government release the 230+ Arab Prisoner that they held. The Iraeli's didnt agree, and they took the hostages to the Munich airport, and a range of open fire happened. 5 of the terrorist, all the hostage, and a police men dead. They tried to one up the other at anything that they could. During the Olympic Hockey, USSR were usually the champions for that, until Febuary of 1980 when the US finally beat USSR for the first time. That event was called the Miracle on Ice. During the Cold War it was USSR invading Afghanistan, and breaking the Soviet-Afghan agreement. And NATO countries came to their aid.
