2: Physical punishment in school creates an environment of fear for students. Students see the use of physical punishments as a reason to fear the person who is giving it out. This does not create a respectful relationship between the child and the punisher. It creates compliance due to fear of another physical punishment instead. This process creates a circumstance where the child may still not understand the difference between right and wrong. Their choices become based on deciding whether or not they want to receive physical punishment.
