The sinking of the Lusitania was the largest factor that caused the United States to join WW1. The United States had been under conspiracy of secretly supplying the allies against Germany in WW1, so Germany decided to stop them. Germany attacked the British ship the Lusitania which had many U.S. citizens on board that died. The United States was unhappy and their interest in the war was sparked. Without the sinking, there is a possibility the United States may have never joined the war.

The Zimmerman Telegram was a huge cause for the United States to join WW1 because it showed a direct threat to the U.S. The British deciphered the telegram that they had intercepted from the Germans to Mexico and given it to the U.S. in hopes for the U.S. to join the war. The U.S. shortly after declared war on Germany and joined WW1 making the Zimmerman Telegram extremely influential. The Telegram was so important due to its publication in the media and showing to the U.S. which caused the citizens to become fired up.

The Germans were on the ropes at this point of the war and needed an offensive to push back against the allies. The Second Battle of Marne was an opportunity, but the allies would end up victorious. The U.S. along with the allies took down Germany after some time and the Germans were devastated. The U.S. needed to join this battle because the Germans were fighting hard and constantly pushing back, but with the U.S.' aid, they were not strong enough.

The U.S. win at Cantigny was very important because it was the first time the U.S. proved they can win battles. Previously it was a debate if the U.S. could fight and the U.S. proved they could. With this battle the U.S. was able to gain the respect and momentum they needed to fight in WW1. If the U.S. lost Cantigny they may have been looked down upon and not taken as seriously.

St. Mihiel was very important to the U.S. because it introduced tank warfare for the U.S. George Patton had been able to lead the U.S. to a victory along with the allies with his tank offensive showing the Germans the true power of the U.S. This battle would be influential to the future of the U.S. military because the U.S. would go on to use tanks in near and far future. Without George Patton or the tanks, the U.S. could have been behind in military technology and tactics for future wars, such as WW2.

American women had to take up many jobs that men had previously done to help support the U.S. war effort. With these women's help the U.S. was able to go into war without worrying too much about necessary jobs. These women would work all kinds of jobs and many would work as medics or caregivers to soldiers. This time period was very influential for the U.S. because it was a time for women to prove they were capable of independence working.

The War Revenue Act was very important for the U.S. due to its ability to help pay for the war effort. The U.S. needed a way to pay for WW1 and they were able to with the help of the War Revenue Act which increased taxes to help the U.S. military. The U.S. eventually was able to win the war and the War Revenue Act was there to help pay for the war. Without the War Revenue Act, the U.S. would have had to find a different way to pay for the war, likely through riskier options like investments or loans.

The Great Depression was an important effect of WW1 because it hurt the United States' people for a decade. WW1 devastated Germany so the United States decided to invest in Germany to help, but this backfired. The United States stock market was too invested in foreign areas and eventually the market crashed. People were devastated and there was mass poverty and unemployment for a decade.

Isolationism was a popular belief in the U.S. before and after WW1. Many U.S. citizens believed that the U.S. did not need to be involved in Europe and wars. This caused the U.S. to not join the League of Nations, rendering it weak and eventually WW2 would start due to lack of sanctions and regulation. The Nazis would be able to become a world power because there was not enough effort to put their military spending to a stop. If the U.S. joined the League of Nations, this would likely have stopped the Nazis from gaining their power.

When the U.S. joined WW1, they came out strong and were able to become stronger quickly. The U.S. realized the dangers of war and they created a strong navy and military over a few decades. This changed the U.S. forever, making it a world power that could stand up to many other strong enemies.
