What are we looking for in a student?
How are those traits best assessed?

We had a lot of discussion around how to take down barriers to enrolling, and once enrolled, how to keep a kid in the programs. How to we help a kid stay in (who might struggle) an PB/IB class instead of weeding them out (making IB numbers small). Also, how do we capture a CP kid who might be very skilled in something like Art but not English or Math etc. who needs to still take 2 IB courses (especially if they get weeded out at the PB levels)?

We feel this conversation needs to happen before we can start enrolling kids because we say IB is for all but then they get weeded out in 9th/10th grades in PB. We discussed "what is rigor". Rethinking needs to happen on how we are making all the marks on the rubrics. We seem to have unreasonable expectations of these kids. Kids are doing hours of homework at night. We have non-IB kids in IB classes so we felt we should not be teaching to the test. Rigor should be for ALL and not based on homework time. Can we focus this topic more in PLC's? What are each department doing to make the IB classes more equitable/rigorous/accessible .
