Thank you Alex who donated his Science Project prize book received on Sept14 1995!The book has graced the Lib all these years but with great regret we bid adieu to it and hope it will find a new home soon.

I am sharing this book not because it is one of my many favourites to read aloud because of its simplistic form-with words and the stark illustrations but because this may be a rare copy-the handmade paper is no longer in print any more !What a find !

The book was an international critical success, and in 1999, it was selected
for the UNESCO-sponsored Biennale of Illustrations Bratislava, a
prestigious international exhibition for illustrations from a children's book.
The book was also
an American Library Association (ALA) notable book in 2005.

It has been translated into some 14 languages, including French, German,
Japanese, Italian, and Korean.

This book deserves the "Shall live forever on the Librarian's desk" place! Ask for the book when you drop over in the Library to be wowed by its art,verse and typography.

Found donated to the Library and I thought this will be a forgettable read over lunch but it gripped me with its character portrayals and tight plot. Keeping it in the Lib for the time.

I am Sushweta Saha the Librarian at ISH.
I am an incidental teacher having being a speech pathologist/therapist in my former life.After completing my masters in Speech and Language pathology from Mumbai University(National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped),I went on to work for the Govt of India,New Delhi,Australian Hearing Services,Sydney,Early Intervention at New York and the School District of Philadelphia..However it was when I wasn't working that I stumbled upon my old love and discovered the public libraries of USA.
With my background in language learning,language and reading development ,it was an obvious choice.
I am passionate about books and reading especially books by Indian authors and amongst many topics the unspoken one on India's partition.
At this time,I am eagerly waiting for my copy of The Last Queen(Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni)to come.Also the reason why the Library weeding is turning out to be so emotional and time taking!
I am a military brat having grown up in the border towns of India and love travelling to offbeat destinations in India.I can still smell the wood smoke from the forests in Lansdowne many summers ago.
I am proud to have completed 2 Amigurumi projects this lockdown !
I have 2 daughters who are equally avid readers and a husband who lets us read !
I am very excited to share my love and passion for reading and bringing this magic to ISH.
