As corporate exec in high tech, I go to a lot of industry conferences.  But this one was so different.  I never wanted to go check my voicemails.  I hurried back to not miss any main stage content.  While having the experience of being AT the conference, I started to really notice how Jon was engaging us as the emcee.  It'was more than emcee work, I was noticing what I now know to be enrolling and choreographies.  I was noticing that I didn't want to miss anything.  I had always hoped to be a stage speaker, but seeing how he managed the group I wanted to instead do what Jon was doing.  

The other strong memory I had was that the informational lunches at the Xchange booth filled up almost right away.  By the time I was ready to engage, there were no slots left.  If it was not for meeting Robert Murray, and petitioning him to help me get into one of the in-person trainings, I would not have had this amazing year of digital training, my certification, and a published book.]]> 2020-12-23 20:28:11 UTC https://padlet.com/jeremyreisig/m5dfr7fos62p4rd7/wish/1040394116 jeremyreisig https://padlet.com/jeremyreisig/m5dfr7fos62p4rd7/wish/1040394274 I was so excited to attend the in-person event in April that I booked my flights early and late to make sure I was not compressed on either end.  When the pandemic hit and I was invited to come to an online version, I admit I was disappointed.  I had really wanted to meet everyone and have the same vibe we had at BYEB.  I didn't believe that an event delivered virtually could compare to an in-person event.

Boy was I mistaken.  Are they the same experience?  Of course not, by the very nature of their delivery they are not the same experience.  Is it an equivalent experience?  Oddly, in some ways it's a superior experience.  I didn't have to get a dogsitter or spend time getting there and back.  I slept in my own bed.  It was less disruptive to my family because I was at home, especially in the evenings.  Most of all?  By removing the emotional energy of in-person, I could focus on my learning more.  In the same way that people say things online that they would never say in person, the upside corollary is that in a digital conversation people will say things and take risks they may not be prepared to take in person.  When working to unlock the untapped potential in groups and organizations, this is a new and powerful opportunity/tool.

Although I was already working from home due to the global nature of my job, the pandemic added a new level of difficulty with my home life.  What saved my work life was implementing what I learned attending my first OXE.  I had faith in my ability to manage teams remotely with these new tools, and I excelled past my peers by keeping my team engaged and happy during a rough time.  If we are the average of the five people we hang around most, by hanging with my new XC community in 2020 I materially raised the EQ of my personal life.  Living in a smallish rural part of California, I consider my XC community a critical part of raising my vibration to invite more and more "new" into my life potential.  I materially feel it, and do not want to be separated from it.

For XC:
I attended most of the digital events of 2020.  I watched Jon and team make adjustments as the year went on, and learned not only from the actual content of each event, but also by watching the shifts in delivery.  The XC team measured, shifted, and tuned their delivery to the point where one might argue their digital delivery has surpassed the potential of in person delivery.  Regardless I personally witnessed a shift from in person to digital that more than adequately prepared attendees to deliver this work credibly and accurately.  My certification is no less valid.  One would argue a XC certification means even more now due to depth of knowledge and time required to complete.

For the world:
Most notably, the world needs more XC guides than ever before. Once you certify in XC, it affects not just your facilitation capabilities, it permanently evolves your leadership style for the better.  My abilities to find solutions through engaged groups of experts has upleveled my game!  Since almost all work in Corporate America is done by groups and not individuals acting alone, my marketability is higher than it's even been, while my effort is less than it's ever been.  Humans have banded together to survive for millennia, and during the pandemic this has never been more true.  I am grateful to be part of a community that serves by leading, and cares for one another. Our community is unlike anything else in my life. I trust the XC community. There is a density of higher purpose and calling not present in neighborhood playgroups and my corporate life. By doing this, it's less of a membership, more of a need to have, and sense that it's worth more and more. 1. Higher purpose - that by being part of this learning community, you can find ways to bring light into the world and be around others who want to do the same.  
2. Inclusion - that by being here I matter.  People feel great being here.  Our families may have trouble letting go of old definitions of who we were, and our companies may not value us, but here, we matter.  
3. Quality - you can't get this kind of education anywhere else.  This stuff works.  It works better than an MBA, an MD, all these other things we do to improve our capacity to earn.  Pointers to Meg, Lochhead, HeartMath, Keller One Thing and so many others that inform the whole body of work.
