While volunteering as a crisis responder for Kids Help Phone, I helped kids and adults cope with stress and anxiety. Many of them confided in me about their experiences with cyberbullying. This made me reflect on how we can protect ourselves and others from such harm. 

I know that cyberbullying is against the law in Canada, but I'm curious about how seriously these offenses are taken and what the legal consequences are.

I try to be a good example by using technology in a smart way. I make sure it helps me instead of distracting me. I also set limits on how much time I spend on screens and use tools that everyone can access. I hope this shows others how to use technology in a healthy and helpful way.

This week, I learned about universal design, which means making things that everyone can use, no matter who they are. As a teacher or a helper, I can use this by creating lessons and tools that work for all kinds of people. For example, I can use captions on videos for people who can’t hear, or make sure papers can be read by screen readers for people who can’t see. I can also teach in different ways so everyone has a chance to learn.

I want to keep using these ideas to make sure no one feels left out. It’s important to create spaces where everyone feels welcome and can succeed.

If I were teaching, I’d want a big screen or projector. It’s great for showing videos or pictures to everyone. It helps make lessons fun and easy to understand. I’d also want computers or tablets. Kids can use them to play learning games, look things up, and work at their own speed.

Technology helps make learning exciting and fair for everyone. I’d use it to make school fun for my students!

I believe online learning is going to be a big part of our lives in the future, making education more flexible and accessible for everyone.

If I tried to stop using it, I think it would feel strange at first. I would probably reach for my phone without thinking, even if it’s not there. But after a few days, it would maybe feel better. I could have more time for reading, walking, or talking to people in person.

I know I use my phone a lot, sometimes just because I’m bored. Maybe I don’t need to stop for a whole week, but I could try using it less each day. It’s something worth trying.
