This stood out to me because something like "Don't I always take care of you?" is a very manipulative way of reassuring somebody. This stood out to me because I just am so confused on the fact that they are doing this. There is no need for this, I just do not understand. Why abandon everything and start over? Because its adventurous? This is not a videogame. What if somebody gets sick or something else bad happens. They are not only throwing away everything, but they are risking their lives including their Childs.

I feel like the parents know what is going on and are scared to tell Jeannette whats going on. This line stood out to me becasue I feel like they hit rockbottom or something and they have no where else to go so they are trying thier best keeping shelter and taking everythign they need to survive and be safe.

it seems like the father cares about Jeannette better than the mother. i'm not saying the mother doesn't care about her daughter but it seems like the Jeannette and her father have a better connection
