Introduction to the Anasazi Tribe

The Anasazi are called the Ancient People. They live in houses that were later called pueblos. These pueblos were multistory buildings and were made of adobe (a mix of sand, straw, and bricks). The Anasazi tribe learned how to farm in the dry lands. The crops they grew consisted of corn, squash, and beans. They farmed in dry areas by planting seeds deep within the dry soil to get most water. The Anasazi had many gods that represented nature and elements.

Link to Bibliography: https://docs.google.com/a/mccsc.k12.in.us/document/d/1uQEwYS-6I9Msg6LnGQgCdo93xy_MCWLj5qg4Exc3uBk/edit?usp=sharing

There are many landmarks and places that are important to the Anasazis. The Anasazi tribe lived in modern states today know as Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. The weather is normally warmer in their region, because they are closer to the equator. Clans are very important to the understanding of the Anasazi. The histories of clans, passed down from generations, combined with scientific and archeological evidence, have helped us confirm who constructed Anasazi sites and were allies to the Anasazi. Ancient people in Southwest America came from one basic unit of societal organization. Important places or landmarks include the Aztec ruins, near Farmington, Aztec and Bloomington, New Mexico, El Malpais, south of Grants, New Mexico and Cedar Mesa Area, near Blanding, Utah. Also, Grand Gulch Primitive Area, near Blanding, Utah and finally Three Kiva Pueblo, near Moab, Utah.

The Anasazi government wasn't that organized. One person was selected to become the headmen and had control over the entire tribe. Although the headmen could be either male or female, it was often a male. A person became the headmen by being chosen by their ancestors passing the honor down. The main locations of the Anasazi's government was in the corners of the states Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona.
