Masturbation

In this scene Orel has discovered masturbation. Although he does not know what it is, he now has found a sense of pleasure from doing so. Orel, like many young boys, is in the age of exploration but no one has taught him what it is. Since Orels parents are hardcore christians, they see it as a sin. In the scene Orel is taught that masturbation is a sin and they create this horrible stigma around it. The episode shows that Orel decides to impregnate the women to not waste his "seeds" and not sin. This shows how not properly speaking to your children can lead to other things.

Abortion

In the song " Wanna Be" by GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion, they mentions something that struck me. The song has nothing to do with abortion except for this lyric:

" He don't want the baby, then, bi$$h, don't keep it, h$$"

Which to me explains why so many women prefer being with a man by keeping a child rather than protecting their autonomy. A lot of the times young women are not ready to be mothers and their partners are not thrilled about it either. In this song Glorilla is asking mothers to not keep that baby if its something they cannot do and the fathers do not want to do. However, it is still up to the mother and what she wants to do

Marriage

I have noticed that many times married couples end up being unhappy. I think older generations are tied down because they had to get married since that's what society wanted. They normalize unhappy marriages and claim that's what marriage is. In this picture it looks like the guy isn't ready to be married and is forced. Which is how many feel but they have normalized this feeling. This can cause unhappiness for both parties and unhappy families. I've asked couples why they were together and some don't even know why.

Pregnancy

In this scene we can see that the pregnant woman is trying to keep her composure whilst pregnant. It shows how society expects you to just carry and move along but they do not show the truth about pregnancy and as beautiful as it may be it is also painful.

LGBTQ

In the movie Strange World, we see a gay teen having a crush on another boy. This shows how we are moving forward and normalizing same sex relationships, which many LGBTQ members were able to identify with. However, this movie also caused a lot of controversy.

intersectionality and pregnancy/childbirth

Black women are at a high risk when giving birth. We are in the midst of a black maternal mortality crisis. There needs to be something done, black women die more often since it has been known that hospitals assume they are stronger because they are black. This has led women to bleed out due to improper care or have no assistance during birth causing extreme pain. FEMINISM INCLUDES ALL WOMEN!!!!!

Heteronormativity

In this picture we can see a nuclear family, which is what society sees when they hear "family". However, not all families look like this and we need to be more inclusive.
