For our preliminary assessment we need to create a short
video including match on action, shot reverse shot, 180° rule and it must show continuity. We also had shots that we needed to include we needed to have brief dialogue between two characters, a character opening and  walking through a door and then sitting in a chair.

Overall our filming was a success and we included all of the shots needed. We found it difficult when we shot one part and beginning another as it was difficult to get the person in the shot in the correct position so that there were no jump cuts. We overcame this by making sure that between cuts
the people in shot stayed in the same position to prevent jump cuts.  We also struggled to create the lighting that we wanted in the shot; we wanted a dim/ dark lighting for one scene and it was difficult to create this.

We included all the shots that we needed although some could have been better quality, we used two different phone cameras and you can clearly tell the difference in footage; although we have some shots in good quality. We would have preferred to have dark lighting but it was difficult to create
and most of the footage is in quite bright lighting. The footage is very steady
and you can see all shots, continuity is also good but could have been improved.

Our shots have been well edited together although we struggled to edit on the macs and moved to a computer and edited on sony vegas. We used straight cuts to putt the shots together and also added music over the top. When editing we found that it was difficult to edit them together as some shots had created a jump cut. We also tried to improve the quality on some shots as we shot with different cameras and the quality was different.

The task was a success as we included all of the shots that we needed and kept the 180° rule and continuity was good but could have been improved. Next time when shooting we would have made sure that continuity was
improved. Another thing that could have been improved was the lighting; the lighting changed a lot and we wanted it to be much darker so if we reshot we would of chosen a different location; this may of also improved the quality of some shots.

We have learnt that when filming we should keep the same
quality camera for filming as it can affect the quality of shots and also
effect continuity as shots look different. Also when filming our thrillers we
should film as soon as we can so that we have time to edit and make any
improvements needed. When filming our thrillers we should also make sure that we think of everything so that the shots are what we want eg lighting and camera quality.
