1) In my Grade 1 class I was using the Smartboard to teach a lesson on math. My AT at the time did not use the Smartboard very often and therefore when halfway through my lesson the programming stopped working, neither one of use knew what had happened and why. On the spot I had to come up with another activity quickly because the Grade 1's started to become very anxious and fidgety. It was a stressful moment and I felt that I had to include technology in order to make a good impression, but it backfired in the moment.
2)The only benefits of coding that I think of are helping students to develop computational thinking skills and problem-solving skills. In order to code, students must learn to develop a growth mindset and persevere through challenges.

I see it being useful in storytelling applications, letting students problem solved and critically think the coding process of the story. adds extra elements and eeasy way to promote collaboration.

It workedout but was stressful at first

1) When I used technology in my Grade 4 class to review Stem and Leaf Plot at the end of the unit, the students were very intrigued and engaged in the activities. There were more hands raised to volunteer and less outspoken answers. In addition, kids had fun while learning.
2) I think the benefit of introducing coding to children are to get them to be great problem solvers in the future.

1) I introduced a final assignment for my students with a (somewhat) exciting PowToon animation. The video outlined the project, success criteria, and rubric. The students absolutely loved the personalized animation, and I found they could more easily recall what was expected of them.
2) Coding introduces students to a form of computational thinking that will serve them will in the math and science disciplines where every minute step is important.
