No one really know what he does or who he truly is, but people enjoy the parties he throws and know he is made of money.

2. When will Gatsby be physically introduced?

"In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since. 'Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,' he told me, 'just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."

I consider this the most important piece throughout chapter one because it demonstrates the difference in values that Nick Carraway has. These phrases separate Carraway from the rest of the characters. Other individuals mentioned throughout this chapter, such as Tom, are arrogant and snobbish. The variation of morals make reading the passage easier to understand

1. Tom and Myrtle remind me of the couple Justin and Hailey Bieber. The media portrays Hailey as more loving towards Justin than Justin towards Hailey. The public makes her seem desperate for his love just as Myrtle appears desperate for Tom throughout chapter 2.

2. The part that I found most interesting is how we began to see Tom and Myrtle's relationship unfold. We get to see the way Myrtle changes herself to fit into Toms standards, even though the higher-class lifestyle is not something she is used to.

1. Gatsby drives a Rolls-Royce, I personally don’t have the desire to own/drive his car. It simply looks too complicated for me to drive and I don’t like how it has no roof, everyone can see me more clearly this way.

2. I believe the most important factor in both the film & the novel is the fact that Jordan says Gatsby living in front of Daisy was not a coincidence, but that he did it on purpose in order to stay close to her.

1. If it were up to me, I would arrange the tea with Daisy and Jay. If I admired Jay as much as Nick does, I would want to try to do something for Jay that I know he would want. Jay wants Daisy, so it would make sense to try and be like his “wing man” and help his efforts to get Daisy back.

2. I think Daisy cried over the shirts because she is only focused on materialistic items. She now sees that Gatsby has money, and that is that she wanted the entire time. Seeing Gatsby in better clothing could possibly have lead to the arise of new feelings towards him.

1. As a whole, Gatsby wants Daisy to leave Tom so that they can be together

2. One of the things that I would do differently would be to leave a job quicker than I did. That specific job took advantage of my time and did not provide me with basic needs (breaks, trips to the bathroom, etc). If I could go back, I would have left as soon as I saw the first red flag. Instead I remained working at this job for almost 6 months

I was extremely surprised that Wilson did not waste any time to avenge the death of Myrtle. It was surprising how he automatically believed Tom and did not bother to do his own research to see if Gatsby truly killed Myrtle. I wonder if Wilson would have killed Daisy is he knew that she was the one who killed his wife.

1. Nick is showcasing how Tom and Daisy have little regard towards the well-being of other people. They do whatever they'd like because they can always find a way to remove themselves from any situation. They never faced the consequences of their own actions, while everyone else is forced to clean up their messes.

2. Overall, I liked this novel. Listening to the audio book made reading/understanding the overall message a lot more easy. It was a little challenging to read some chapters, since some I found more boring than others, but other than that, it truly was interesting and it was clear enough that I could picture the scenes in my head. Watching the movie clips helped me understand the book more as well.
