I see in the painting a vast variety of colors alongside a number of whirls which suggests a possible interpretation of a night within Van Gogh's mind. He represents 'night' as clear and breezy which can evidently be seen by the whirls in the painting possibly representing winds blowing and stars in the sky which suggest a clear sky. Van Gogh adopts the technique called impasto, where paint is laid on an area of surface in very thick layers. This causes brush and paining-knife strokes to be clearly visible.

The scene in this painting is set during the night. The dimness in the lighting reflects with the illness Van Gogh had to overcome during his time. There is a strange of the colours in the painting. Van Gogh had to suffer lead poisoning/brain disease which explains this strange use of colours. In other words, this painting is all about Van Gogh's emotions and what he was feeling like in his time.

The Van Gogh masterpiece is a masterful and gorgeous depiction of the night sky with whirling strokes of paint. The colour scheme of the painting is more evidently of the colder variety with blues and blacks however, the little specks of yellow and gold provide a soothing overall visual of the painting. One can easily identify that this painting is an example of expressionism as the painting's contours seem to convey emotion. The thickness of the layers of paint and the strong contrast between colours limns out an interpretation that the painting depicts what a hopeful person dreams and wishes for.

According to me, Van Gogh sets the painting in a time on night, as it said that he painted this when he was still in his mental asylum room. Each brush stroke is distinguished since the colours are not blended, which makes the sky and stars in the painting the centre of attraction. The twirls in the middle represent Van Gogh not using a single stroke technique therefore portraying something dreamy

In this painting I see a vivid night sky in the backdrop - with a town visible at the bottom. This can be considered an example of expressionism due to the emphasis on bright colours (contrast between different shades of blue and yellow), the strong strokes (the colours are not blended - very particular brush stroke of small repetitive lines). The interpretation of the painting is subjective, but to me it comes across as an otherwordly scene which seems magical or perhaps to others even dreamy.

In this painting, I can see that the style used seems very dreamy. Expressions have been showcased in a very unreal manner. The rather sharp strokes across the piece to me looks like there was sudden emergence of thoughts. The bright background is like a juxtaposition of ideas or maybe even the life of the artist. The wave like skies mimic the flow of water, which can be a symbol of passing time. But also the reflection of deep thoughts. Van Gough wasn't the only one who used such a style to convey his emotions; The Scream by Edvard Munch. Similar styles may portray emotions in various perspectives. Moreover, the bright sun and sparkly stars to me seem like a symbol of hope amidst the darkness.

What I see is an abstract painting, showing the night sky with a view of the city. The type of painting looks to be an oil painting, which means that the colors are in more depth and are more flexible. The reason Van Gogh might adopt that technique is to be able to create patterns due to the color's flexibility, making it seem less realistic, and more dreamy. This takes away from realistic views in order to maybe distract people from the real life, and sooth them, especially with the dark and cool color such as blue, which is one the more prominent colors in the pallette.

However, the artistic portrayal is fictional, not realistic. The painting exaggerates the paint strokes and saturation of colors, which further moves the painting away from the realistic nature. The painting is ultimately a perception from the mind of the Van Gogh, whose distortion of reality can be interpreted from the creation of the painting.
