The main purpose of the Truman Doctrine was for the United States to aid countries that were in need of it and that rejected communism to stop the spread of it, one of the first countries to receive aid was Greece. The Marshall Plan was a proposition from the U.S. to help European countries in need because after WWII Western Europe was in ruins, this plan costed up to 12.5 billion dollars. The Cuban Missile Crisis came after the Bay of Pigs and the Bay of Pigs was where the U.S trained Cuban refugees to fight back against Cuba and it failed, later on the Soviet Union started making missile sites in Cuba and President Kennedy then learned about it and demanded they be removed. Containment was a U.S policy in which they tried many things to stop the spread of communism because their main goal was to stop or restrain the spread of communism.

Vietnam was separated into two, communists and south democratic, it started to settle the government. The Vietnam war started because it wanted its independence from France. The United States was involved in both of these wars. The Korean war ended after MacArthur launched a surprise attack on North Korea and half of them surrendered and the other half retreated, an armistice was signed in July 1953 but it still remained divided. Perestroika was an economic reform which is a change in business and industry. Mikhail Gorbachev is the person who took over after Brezhnev died and he made a lot of changes, but in the end the Soviet Union still fell. The Cultural Revolution was a major uprising lead by the Red Guards, the goal was to make a society where peasants and workers are treated equally.
