The aim of my music video is to change the generic expectations of a music video and interpret another form of moving image into it. When the audience view the music video I want them to establish it as something they have never seen before and it will be memorable because it’s different. It relates to the theme of “My England” because it is paying ode to what England used to be and what it meant to the history of England and how it played an important part in the modern age of England and Fashion trends. 

 

My target audiences would probably be teenagers and upward because younger children wouldn’t understand the concept or the theme. Teenagers would understand the story but it will also help to educate them about the past in Britain and what it used to be like as it contrasts immensely to today. 

My job role will be creating the project, producing and directing the project as I am working independently.

Q3.  If you had to learn about the past, which era would most intrigue you?

   A1. “Late 70s, I watched ‘The Get Down’ on Netflix and liked it a lot.”

   A2. “I would most likely be intrigued by the 80s and 90s because of the music style and fashion.”

   A3. “Probably because the 80s because it was a time where things were simpler.”

   A4. “The 90s because of the music.”

 

Q4. What does England mean to you?

   A1. “Fish and Chips, Bad Weather, Home.”

Within the entire process of creating the research to support my final major project, I was able to put together some tests such as focus groups, questionnaires and more in order to directly connect with the audience I was aiming for. In efforts to generally educate the youth of Britain today of what it once was and introduce them to raw English Culture, I found that these methods revealed to me generally positive results regarding what I wanted to hear. A lot of the feedback informed me that there was not really any knowledge surrounding Mods, and I also got some comments wondering why I was doing the Mods. It was interesting to see people so unknowing about this subject, which gives me confidence in the process of creating this, because I have now been encouraged that this is a new idea on a take of an old topic. 

The mood boards and mind maps I created also contributed significantly to the beginning of the production as they were the starting gun generally. They gave me an opportunity to visually put everything down on paper and use to conjure up my own plan and idea. I’ve also kept the diary logs to obviously track my progress and any ideas I come up with afterwards. 

When creating my production, I want people to come away from the entire thing, amazed due to it being something they’ve never seen before. With the work I want to produce, I want it to be entirely constructed from originality. If I’m inspired by certain qualities I can easily interpret them into my work, but for the wide scheme of things – I want my work to be entirely original as it will be more impactful and meaningful. When audiences watch this, I want younger audiences to be educated about the past of Britain – and not only that – but they appreciate the new way that I’ve done that, and from using my secondary research on Mods and the time period, I will be able to accurately portray this. I will also be able to communicate the message through to them using a method I have never seen mixed together with Mod Culture – and that is animation. 

Through the existing products that I have looked at, all of them being animated music videos and montages, I have been able to solve the target market and how they appealed to their own. I can use their methods to appeal to the same audiences so that the product I’m making is viable.
