Well, to begin with, I'd like to say that I'm generally someone who prefers to play it safe. I've always been quite cautious in my decisions and haven't really had many opportunities to take risks. However, there was one time when I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take a small risk.

It was during a school event where there was an opportunity to participate in an art (singing, playing instruments and dancing) competition. Even though piano was like a field that was given to me, performing it to the public has never been my forte, and the idea of sitting in front of a crowd and presenting a piece of music was quite scary and risky for me. So, it took me a lot of time to hesitate and yes, I almost talked myself out of it.

But then, I thought to myself, why not give it a try? Even if I didn't win, it could be a valuable learning experience, and I could also gain more confidence after participating. So, despite my reservations, I decided to take the opportunity and sign up for the competition.

The days leading up to the competition were and I couldn't help but worrying. What if I embarrass myself in front of everyone? What if I can't do it? Tons of questions happened in my mind and they all made me flustered. However, as I started preparing and practicing, I realized that I was capable of more than I thought. The feeling of worrisome and fearness slowly started to disappear. When the day of the competition arrived, I felt a mix of anxiety and excitement, and it was hard to decide what I felt at that moment. But once I got on stage, after sitting down on the chair and started playing the piano, I found myself surprisingly confident. And to my astonishment, I ended up getting the 3rd prize, and it was mind-blowing.

Taking that risk not only boosted my self-confidence but also taught me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone. It showed me that sometimes, it's worth taking a leap of faith, even if the result is uncertain. Overall, it was a positive experience that encouraged me to be more open to new challenges in the future.

I would like to talk about a risk that I took in my class a few years ago. It was a time when my class had a school project about the environment and how to protect it. My class was divided into 6 groups of 5 people, and the works were divided equally among us. Each person will look up information or be the presenter. The risk was, that I decided to be the presenter. Back then, I was terrified of public speaking and didn’t have any background. I thought that I wouldn’t do this job well due to my lack of experience. On the other hand, as a motivation, I think that I need to work hard for the best result. It was a hard time when I needed to do lots of research, talk to myself in front of the mirror to improve my fluency and practice controlling my stress. The presentation day came, and when I was on stage, it was stressful and I trembled with fear. But when I looked down at the audience, which was my teacher and friends, all the anxiety disappeared. They cheered me by giving me a big applause. When the results came out, I felt joyful and surprised that I did it. I appreciate the time I spent studying and it is worth it. All in all, taking this risk not only boosted my confidence but also taught me the importance of trying new things. It was a positive experience that encouraged me to be more open to new challenges in the future.

To be honest, I would say that I am not keen on taking risks, because I am afraid of what happens after I step out of my safe zone and try something new, I just generally thought it would go down in flames. But there was one time I decided to try and take a risk, it was when my class was learning P.E, and the teacher announced that there was going to be a swimming competition in our school, my friends were all signing up, I didn't care about it, because I was never gifted in such physical exercise. However, after I heard the swimming range was 50 meters, I thought that it was going to be a great idea to join because I have spent all of my summers swimming at my cousin's house! So, without hesitation, I decided to give it a shot and signed up for the competition. But when I got home, I spent all night thinking, that I had never participated in such a thing like that before, still, I reassured myself that it would be just fine, I had my friends with me anyway, and that it could be quite an interesting experience. Time passes faster than I thought it would be. I put on my swimming suit and waited, I saw my friends swimming, then it was my turn. I quickly moved to the edge of the pool, my heartbeat was faster, and I could feel that I was nervous. The whistle blew and I dived into the water just like an arrow, I tried to swim as fast as I could, then I finally reached the finish line. I felt so relieved and went to change my clothes. Then, me and my classmates waited patiently for the results, I was so anxious, then, the judge finally announced. I was floating in the air when I got second place, and first place was my tall and shy classmate, Kitty, who was blessed with swimming. It was a very unique experience and memory, I can feel my heart being on a roller coaster during the time I was swimming. In the end, this was a very encouraging experience that boosted my confidence to try more new things.
