Some ideas from my previous' school's HOUSE system:

- eDoctrina Behave system has a way to give students points, cash out, print or screenshot vouchers for prizes etc all online. And our kiddos already know their edoc login so could be a mostly seamless transitions.

- Before eDoctrina, my school also had a slip that was a template (i should have copy somewhere to show, just lemme know) for giving points and it was students responsibility to put into the box designated for their house. DEans would collect slips on daily basis and tally up points and input into a spread sheet (often with help of House student leaders).

- In HS level, having student who was house leader for each grade was a great way to build leadership skills and put some of the work on students and not teachers.

- Overall, system for giving points needs to be explicit (WHAT do students get points for), NORMED (how many points and how often), and CONSISTENT (needs to be easy for students to give the points).

- For prizes, need to make sure we follow through and actually provide/give prizes. Things 8th graders might love or appropriate--invite to a lunch party, entry into school dance, exchange for snacks/treats/desserts during lunch time, gel/colored pens,

Sorry for the essay! haha hope this is helpful.

Consistency around what happens when students are repeatedly doing similar behaviors in 1 or more classes throughout a day, week, month, etc. As a teacher it is good to know the protocol for example:

A)Nearly all the time expect to keep a child in the classroom and respond accordingly to a situation/ challenge.

B)Nearly all the time expect a dean/ leader to come to class and talk to, pull out, etc so the student responds to an outside colleague to see what happens next.

Knowing what is going to happen will help a lot. It is tough to deal with a situation, it continues, you seek support and the response doesn't address or help much.
