1. Students make a video on How to do something: Visual step by step by step to share with the class. Once everyone has shared their video I will place the class videos on a video blog.. This gives students the opportunity to learn something new if they choose to and allows them to share these things with others. This helps them continue to learn outside the classroom.
2. Have students go home and try to make what they think is the most magnificent thing with a family member . It could be something as simple as a mini science lesson such as creating silly puddy.
3. Give students a page in the Pancakes for Breakfast book and have them come up with the dialogue for that page. According to Kiefer and Tyson when it comes to critical literacy it is important for students to connect the illustrations to the story. This gives students the opportunity to do this in a creative and imaginative way.

Her class decides to put on the play Peter Pan and Grace wants the part of Peter. Her classmates say she can't because she's a girl and black.
