Belief- predestination is the belief that god already set your destiny and weather you go to heaven or hell since the day that you were born. The concept of predestination played a large role in the beliefs that the puritans had and how they developed their culture.

Writing style- The author in "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" show the readers this belief by the imagery that he uses to help the reader understand the "fiery pit" as the puritans described it.

Quote/example- “They have deserved the fiery pit and are sentenced to it".

Belief- The puritans believed that a person should be in both the church and the community.
Writing style- the way that the author of "of Plymouth Plantation" shows this belief is through his examples of the people having to care for the sick, and attending church and playing a large role in the church cause there were so few of them that were healthy.
Quote/example - "...Hazard of their own health, fetched them wood, made the fires, dressed the meat, made their beds, washed their loathsome cloths, clothed and unclothed them.
