I struggle with letting other people take the lead because I’m very proud of the work I do. Based on past experiences with group projects, I sometimes have trouble trusting that others will do good work, which makes it harder for me to fully let go of control.

I value diversity and different perspectives in a team. I’m Mexican, a woman, and a first-gen Latina. I speak Spanish, so if future projects need Spanish, I can help integrate it into our work. Where I’m from in Mexico is considered Indigenous — I’m Zapotec. I mainly understand the language from living with my family speaking it my whole life, though I have a harder time speaking it myself. For this class, I hope our team supports each other, divides work fairly, and creates an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their voice.
