I like this mural because it shows a little bit of how life was like in Singapore before all the modern technology came. I'm the past, there wasn't any machinery that could help the workers carry the shipment onto the boats. They would have to carry it by themselves to the boat. It also shows that we have developed a lot compared to the past with all the bigger ships and machinery. Therefore, I like this mural because it can show me how far we have come as a nation and that how the work was like in the past.

I like this mural as this mural has a deep message, a message about the current events in nature, unlike the other murals. In the mural, one half of the mural shows the Earth seemingly happy, without manmade structures. You can also see leaves falling, which could mean nature was flourishing. However, The other half shows the Earth crying, with buildings on top of it. This shows that us, vile Human Beings, are affecting Earth and contributing to climate change. You could also see the water is darker than the one in the other half. This could refer to pollution. Something I noticed about the mural as the sad half doesn't have trees, unlike the first half. This possibility refers to deforestation. The crying Earth also shows that we probably do not have much time to save the World. In my opinion, I think that the artist wants to spread awareness on saving the Environment, as Scientists predicted that we have approximately 10 years left, which by now, is less than a decade left to save the Planet. And yet illiterate people are littering and polluting this Earth, making it's condition even worse. So, this artist paints this particular mural, at a place beside Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, hoping students and staff will be aware. I like this painting as the painting speaks a thousands of words itself. The phrase “The Last Train” shows that this painting is related to Bukit Timah’s history. Not long ago, trains used to run from Tanjong Pagar Station to Woodlands with one stop at Bukit Timah Station. KTM Train No. 6543 was the last train to call at the station on 30 June 2011. The railway ceased operations thereafter. At the other end of the carpark, on the wall of the other strip of The Rail Mall, was another set of murals. The largest artwork featured a wooden house with traditional attap roof. It looked so realistic from afar that I did not realised it was painted. The Rail Mall may not hold as much weight in our history books as the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, but it’s the closest it can get. I like this painting as it shows us how Singapore used to look like before urbanisation happened. It shows a beautiful and scenic farm beside a river with two small huts and white birds. We can see in the painting that there are a lot of crops planted in the fields which adds to picture making it look more green. This shows us how Singapore used to look like when it was still a Kampong area. The artist used very bright colours to make the artwork pop up to the watcher's eyes. It also painted as if to relax the person watching it as it so beautiful that it can take away all of your stress. Yes, this is a traditional dish called Tang Yuan. It is a type of dessert that i eat annually, and often eaten during lantern
festival. But it can be served a weddings and family reunion. It is sometimes stuffed with fillings such as black sesame (mixed with sugar), crushed peanuts (mixed with sugar), etc. I like to eat this dish because it reminds me of all the family gatherings that I've had before. The family gatherings are very memorable because I rarely have them and it does not last for very long when i have them. I have combined a Taxi and a Rickshaw, to convey how energy and a sustainable city be conserved over the years, the past being the rickshaw, an old form of public transport and the present being the taxi, modern public transport. The artworks will be portrayed in two famous masterpieces. One of them being the Son of Man. The sign of a "TAXI" will be placed on the man's face to portray the idea of taxis being the current trend of public transport/ the face of public transport. The taxi plus rickshaw combination can be added behind the man to convey the message of mankind abandoning sustainability of the earth (abandoning the taxi).
