Nearpod can be used to reinforce learning, introduce new ideas, or review before assessments. With a variety of atmospheres from live participation, student-paced, or front of the classroom, students are engaged and excited about participating. Below is a specific example of how to integrate:

Topic:

Chemical Families

Audience:

Grades 9-12, Introductory High School Chemistry Class.

Multimedia Principles Included:

Redundancy Principle:

Nearpod presentation, graphics are accompanied by audio narration instead of redundant on-screen text.

Example: A diagram of properties of a chemical family is explained through narration, with only short labels on the screen to support understanding.

Signaling Principle:

Nearpod uses visual or verbal cues to highlight essential information like "alkali metals" and "noble gases" are bolded or highlighted in the video.

Arrows and bright colors are used in diagrams to draw attention to specific parts of a atomic structure.

Coherence Principle:

Nearpod eliminates extraneous material that might distract from the core instructional goal.

For example, the presentation avoids decorative images or sounds that do not directly relate to chemical properties.
