Quote

On page 83 of the story, after Khosrou tells the reader of a love story about Farhad and Shirin, he tells them, "The lesson here is that your happiest memories can become your saddest all of a sudden." This is a good quote because it makes the reader think about how even though you're having the best time of your life, it could turn to the worst at any minute. It makes me think to not take too much for granted because you don't know when it could turn bad. This connects to the theme because the fact that something happy can become sad in an instant resembles the theme that even when you're on top, you could be at the bottom in an instant.

Summary and Review

A young prince named Khosru lived in Iran and moves to Oklahoma after his dad leaves his family. He changes his name to Daniel and converts to Christianity. He gets bullied by some of his classmates and tries to become “unseen”. He has to explain why he got his name which is when he tells the reader all about his past and current life experiences in the first-person point of view. I thought the book was great but just a little weirdly paced and sometimes had a lot going on with changes in location and time. The book was very exciting most of the time and it was interesting to see the conflicting past and present. Overall though, I would give it ⅘ stars.

I chose the song "Ghost!" by Kid Cudi to match this story because in it he describes being confused in a new world and not knowing his place or what to do, "When did I become a ghost?
I'm mostly confused about the world I live in
They think that I'm lonely, well I probably am
One thing that still gets me
When did I become a ghost?" In the story, Khosru (Daniel), moves from Iran to Oklahoma, he is confused in the new world and becomes a ghost to avoid getting made fun of or judged.
