I chose this book because after seeing it in the library, I read the description, which states that, “The sinister lengths to which their country will go to keep its secrets.” This led me to believe that it was a dystopian novel and I love dystopian fiction because of the way the secrets are revealed as well as how the people respond.

The opening lines, “My mother thinks I’m dead. Obviously I’m not dead, but it's safer for her to think so. At least twice a month, I see my wanted poster flashed on the JumboTrons scattered throughout downtown Los Angeles.” drops us in a fantasy world, where there are these things called JumboTrons. We also know that the character is wanted, and has been for a while. It is a good opening that opens up a lot about the character. For example, he also has a family who wants them to think that he is dead.

You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time...
