2. Trial and error and Heuristic problem solving strategies were all present in this experiment. Trial and error was present when the guards took away the participants’ beds, clothes, and toilets in order to decrease bad behavior. This was an example of trial and error because they took away each one by one as a solution to the prisoners’ bad behavior. Additionally, when the prisoners screamed curses and retaliated against the guards, they used the strategy of trial and error in order to get out of the prison. They also created a barrier so that the guards could not reach them, but this ended up causing the guards to become even angrier. The Heuristic strategy was present when the prisoners decided to retaliate against the guards. This is because the prisoners did not like what the guards were doing, so, like any other person would, they stood up for themselves. Another example of the Heuristic strategy is when the guards removed the prisoners’ necessities in order to encourage good behavior. This decision was quick and easy for the guards, making it a heuristic decision.

For my behavior project, I chose my nail tearing habit. This habit occurs when I feel bored, anxious, or panicky and is a default fidget behavior for me. Every time I felt the urge to tear my nails or every time I did it, I forced myself to do 10 pushups. I used operant conditioning and positive punishment. This is because I added something (10 pushups) to decrease my bad habit of tearing my nails.

Day 1 for me was difficult. I frequently forgot about this challenge, which made it harder for me to stop the habit. I felt the urge to rip my nails frequently throughout the day. It was also the first day of my track and field camp, so I was nervous and ended up tearing two of my nails. On day 1, I had to do 40 pushups. On day 2, I still felt nervous when I arrived at the track camp. However, on day 2 I only had to do 20 pushups. On day 3, I felt more comfortable and confident about my skills during the track camp. On this day, I did not rip any of my nails. Mostly because most of my nails were too short. Day 4 was the last day of camp and the day of the track meet. I was quite nervous on this day and felt the urge numerous times. On day 4, I ended up doing 50 pushups. On day 5, I had an interview for a job. This was my first interview ever, and I felt very nervous yet excited, and I tore 2 nails. As a result, I had to do 20 pushups. On Day 6, I did not have any plans. On this day, I successfully did not rip any of my nails. Day 7: I had a college tour this day and felt slightly anxious. I tore one nail that day and did 10 pushups. Day 8: I did not tear any nails nor felt the urge to. Day 9: I ripped one nail because I felt bored. 10 pushups. Day 10: Successful! No nails, no pushups.

This project was not as successful as it could have been for me. Most days, I ended up doing push ups. For future changes, I think that I will give myself a worse punishment or just paint my nails every week so that my nails look too pretty for me to want to tear them.

The purpose of personality tests is to gain a better understanding of who you are as a person and how you can use this knowledge to your advantage in order to better yourself. This can help an individual succeed in the classroom, social settings, or professions. For example, if an individual receives the personality type of an ENFP, it can help them to find a job that requires a lot of collaboration and working with others, as well as a place where they have lots of freedom to share their ideas. Another example would be if a person is an INFP, their personality would benefit them in a healthcare setting. This is because their strengths are that they are caring, empathetic, and generous. INFPs would greatly enjoy serving others and positively impacting their lives.

The test is valid. It produced results and served its purpose.

The test is reliable because if I were going to retake it, I would receive the same personality type and results.

What I found interesting about my results was that they said I prefer sensing over intuition, which resulted in receiving the personality type of ISTJ instead of INTJ. I have taken many different personality tests before, and all have given me INTJ. I also think that I tend to be more intuitive rather than based on senses, which was interesting to me. However, I believe this means that my personality has slightly changed.

My strengths are that I am honest, direct, responsible, dutiful, practical. I agree with these strengths. I tend to always give my honest opinions, am usually responsible, dutiful, and practical.

My weaknesses are that I am stubborn, insensitive, and often unreasonably blame myself. I definitely agree with these weaknesses. I am stubborn towards my parents, and can often come off as insensitive towards friends, although I mean well and am just being honest.

I discussed the results with my friend and she strongly agrees. She actually told me a few days ago that she notices that I’m constantly putting myself down, which closely aligns with the “unreasonably blames themselves” weakness of an ISTJ. I am definitely going to work on that to improve myself. On the brighter side, she agrees that I am a very dutiful and practical person. She says that she admires my work ethic and dedication towards my passions. We both think that the results accurately reflect my personality.

Masters and Johnson’s theory conceptualizes the human sexual response because they put the sexual cycle into 4 phases: excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. This creates the concept of sex that is widely known.

According to studies on animals, the amygdala and nucleus accumbens of the limbic system are particularly crucial for sexual motivation. Even if the ability to engage in sexual conduct is unaffected, damage to these regions reduces the drive to do so. The female rat exhibits a similar dissociation between sexual motivation and sexual ability. Although rat sexual behavior is significantly less sophisticated than humans, this research does highlight some similarities between the two species. The fact that erectile dysfunction medications are so well-liked around the world indicates that human sexual motivation and the capacity for sexual conduct can also be separated. Additionally, conditions involving aberrant hypothalamus activity are frequently linked to hypogonadism (lower gonad function) and diminished sexual function. It is not surprising that hormones generated by the endocrine system have significant roles in sexual drive and behavior given the hypothalamus's role in endocrine function. In the physiological sense, the excitement phase is the arousal phase of the sexual response cycle, characterized by penis erection and vaginal canal expansion. During plateau, the vagina swells, blood flow to labia minora increases, and the penis becomes fully erect. Muscle tone increases during this phase. Orgasm in females involves rhythmic contractions of the pelvis and uterus, increased muscle tension, and a buildup of seminal fluid near the urethra. Resolution occurs when the body returns to an unaroused state, accompanied by decreased blood pressure and muscular relaxation.

The textbook theory does not account for individual differences in sexual response. For example, it is missing people that are transgender. Although the female and male sexes are included, they are only biologically female or male. The inclusion of transgender people may possibly produce different results.

A potential criticism or limitations of the theory is that the theory does not take into account the existence of transgender people. This can be addressed by including transgender people in studies, along with male and females. Transgender people–whether woman or man identifying–should be taken into account in the sexual theory. This is because adding in transgender perspectives can open up a new perspective to researchers, experimenters, and learners as well. Additionally, the addition of transgender people can create different results that were not shown originally in the results of females and males.

One stress management plan that people can use to manage stress is making time for fun and relaxation. Being able to set aside time for yourself every day can be very beneficial for your mental health. This can be things such as walking, running, sewing, hanging out with friends, playing a sport, listening to music, or even napping. Setting aside time to do something that you enjoy that brings you peace can help to take your mind off of whatever you’re stressing about. For example, engaging in physical activity increases an individual's mood and provides a boost of energy. Another example of making time for fun and relaxation is napping. like physical activity, napping boosts energy and improves mood, performance, and alertness. In addition, relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation activate the body's relaxation response. Deep breathing and meditation also decreases the heart rate and stress levels and allows the body to become calm and centered. After working each day, make time for relaxation in order to feel less stressed. Being able to take time for yourself allows you to focus on something that makes you happy, helps you to balance work with fun, and overall causes happiness and mood boosts.

Piglet has an anxiety disorder. This diagnosis is accurate because he has persistent fear and anxiety. Eeyore has a major depressive disorder. This diagnosis is accurate because he shows many symptoms of a depressive disorder. The Grinch has social anxiety disorder. This is because the Grinch was abandoned as a child, causing him to not want to feel abandoned again, which results in isolation.

Piglet also has many physical symptoms of anxiety, such as shaking, twitching, and blushing. Eeyore feels empty and lonely often, lacks confidence, and is not happy. He is slightly underweight, which shows that he is not properly taking care of himself. The Grinch’s case states that he got bullied in fifth grade, which contributes to his social anxiety disorder, which can cause isolation. Also, social anxiety disorder is associated with poor work performance and lower educational attainment, which explains why the Grinch does not have a job.

I think that the Grinch’s disorder belongs in Cluster B because he has Antisocial disorder.

I think that there is comorbidity present in the Grinch’s diagnosis. This is because, although he is already anti-social, he participates in reckless and rude behavior, such as ruining Christmas for the town.

I think that the main clinical diagnosis for Mandy’s case study is Autism spectrum disorder. I believe this is accurate because many of the symptoms Mandy expresses aligns with the symptoms of Autism spectrum disorder. I also think that she may have antisocial disorder. This is because she seems to have trouble communicating with others. I think the main clinical diagnosis for Bart Sympson’s case is OCD. I believe this is accurate because he gets distracted easily and tends to focus on something for a long time.

Mandy’s emotions seem to fluctuate throughout the day, and she expresses irritability quite often. Mandy has outbursts of aggression, acts like a child, and dramatic emotional swings. These are all symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, she is physically abusive with objects, has a hard time communicating, has no impulse control, and walks on her toes. Mandy prefers to be with her mother and finds difficulty in trying to talk to others. She also demonstrates repetitive behaviors such as throwing objects and repeating “Mandy’s a bad girl, I hate myself!” every night. She also seems to have difficulty expressing her feelings, which results in the emotional outbursts, throwing objects, and tantrums that she has. Another example of symptoms of Mandy’s diagnosis is that she acts out at school. This shows her difficulty of expressing herself. If a person without autism wanted to go home, they would likely ask the staff politely or make up an excuse. However, Mandy acts out in an abnormal way to express that she wants to go home. Bart is distracted often and focuses on an object or idea so long that he tends to forget other things. He showcases urges, obsessions, and his love for video games that causes him to forget important things. Also, because his mom has OCD, he is likely to have it as well.

I think that there might be comorbidity present in Mandy’s case. Antisocial personality disorder may be present in her case. This is because the description tells us that she feels sympathetic only towards her mother, feels indifferent towards how her behaviors impact others, and feels angered by the fact that she does not know how to properly socially interact. Also, because she asks her mother if she will ever get married, it shows how she feels that people tend to avoid her and that she has a desire for social interaction. Furthermore, because she does not like the staff at her school, it expresses her antisocial personality. She is only comfortable with her mother and does not seem to have any other friends. Other symptoms of Antisocial personality Disorder are recklessness and aggressiveness, which are both demonstrated through Mandy’s. For Bart’s case, I do not think there are any comorbidities.

I chose the fictional character Eeyore. From the previous discussion, I diagnosed him with major depressive disorder.

Cognitive therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy treatments can be used to treat the disorder. Cognitive therapy focuses on how thoughts lead to feelings of distress. In Eeyore’s case, he feels depressed, empty, and lonely frequently throughout the day. His thoughts play a significant role in how he feels, just like how they would in any other person. Cognitive therapy is based on the idea that emotional reactions are the result of your thoughts about the situation rather than the situation itself. This encourages individuals to find more positive ways of thinking and to change their mindsets. This treatment would work well for Eeyore because he often thinks negatively about himself, so changing his mindset would allow him to think less badly of himself. Cognitive therapists help clients to become aware of their thinking errors, which allow clients to correct their negative thoughts with logical and rational thinking. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy focuses on present issues instead of a patient’s past. This type of treatment aims to change self-defeating behaviors, how people think, and how they act. This treatment would work well for Eeyore because his negative thoughts are significantly affecting his behavior. More positive thoughts would eventually lead to a positive change in behavior. Humanistic Therapy focuses on helping people achieve their potential, increasing self-awareness, and acceptance by focusing on conscious thoughts. This treatment would work well for Eeyore because it can help him to grow personally. The best therapy method for Eeyore is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I believe this is best because it focuses on present issues, and Eeyore is currently having negative thoughts and emotions. It will also allow him to change his mindset, resulting in a positive change in his behavior.
