Yes, tourism should be promoted in LDCs. So that they will be able to gain revenue to invest in building better infrastructure, facilities and services, and eventually improve their lifestyles. The revenue earned from visits by tourists helps to pay for the children's school fees and their living expenses to support their family. Also, with tourism promoted, LDCs will be more widely known by other countries and hopefully increase the number of tourists visiting their countries and increase the revenue collected from these visits. Tourism also helps to provide the locals with more job opportunities to improve the country's economy and status. The Government also plays a crucial role in promoting tourism. With revenue, they ensure the safety and security of the various tourist destinations in Phuket that tourists frequently visit. By doing so, tourists feel safer travelling in Phuket, knowing that there are safety measures in place. Furthermore, with increased revenue, Phuket will be able to develop attractions that makes the tourists' travel more enjoyable. The attraction is often promoted and enhanced by the tourism industry to attract even more tourists. Places of scenic beauty can be examples of natural attractions while medical services, educational facilities and theme parks are examples of built attractions. With these attractions, more tourists are likely to visit Phuket. Hence, tourism helps Phuket to collect more revenue which helps to develop and invest various projects from the money earned. These projects will then benefit Phuket's economy and further increase the number of tourist arrivals. The country may have a chance to develop itself into a DC.

Tourism should be promoted in LDCs, so that more tourists will be aware of these countries, and these countries will receive more tourists, in turn gaining revenue for further development in infrastructure and facilities. this will also allow for better education and services.

Tourism promotion in LDCs will also provide more job opportunities for locals, generating revenue and increasing the overall GDP and allowing the country to develop more quickly. The revenue generated from tourism does not necessarily remain in the country though. A large portion of this money is lost as it is paid to other countries for the import of goods and services. For example, in Phuket, 70% of the tourist revenue goes to the global economy (e.g. imported food and foreign-owned hotels. Only 24% goes to the Thai economy to pay for prepaid tours in Thailand and food from elsewhere in Thailand. A measly 7% goes to the Phuket economy, to local transport, local tours and locally owned hotels.

Also, these LDCs will need to spend a lot of money to build attractions and sights to attract more tourists to come to the country. They do not have that large an amount of money, so they will not be able to build these attractions.

The tourism industry in some countries also experience seasonal unemployment, as some tourist attractions depend on the climatic conditions. During the optimal climate, the county can experience a huge increase in tourists. The country will experience a huge decrease in tourists after the season. For example, in the Alps, Europe, the ski resort has many tourists during winter. In summer, however, it experiences a major loss in tourist arrivals.

Hence, I believe that tourism should not be promoted in LDCs.

Tourism should be promoted in LDCs. As there are many advantages that a country can benefit from when tourism rate is high. Having a high tourism actually aids in the development of LDCs as they bring employment oppurtunities, growth in income and the development in infrastructure and facilities.

When there is a high tourism rate in the country, tourism-related jobs are created and are open to the locals. Such jobs include taxi-drivers and shop owners. With more jobs being created, more people get employed and more taxes can be collected by the government to further develop the country.

Evaluation: Promoting tourism in less developed countries bring with many benefits that aid in the development of the country. It creates more job opportunities for the locals. having employment in tourism industries forms part of the service sector of the economy of the country. Having more tourists visiting the country also brings along the growth in income. Having more income earned by the locals increases the amount of taxes collected by the government which then increases the overall revenue of the country. Having higher revenue, the country can further develop itself by building more infrastructure and facilities. These facilities will not only benefit the tourists but also the locals. However, there is a downside to promoting tourism too. In some countries, they experience seasonal unemployment where locals are jobless for several months due the the weather not being suitable to engage in certain activities such as skiing. Due to tourists not visiting for instance the ski resort, such facilities become under-used and having to maintain these facilities can be costly, draining the country's revenue. Additionally, in LDCs, there may also be a shortage of services to support the number of tourists visiting the country. A large amount of land, water and power is required to

LDCs should not promote tourism.
Tourism can lead to negative environmental impacts such as destruction of habitats and increase in carbon footprint.

Tourists sites, such as sandy beaches and scenic villages, can be overwhelmed with visitors during the holidays. When throngs of people visit a destination, they may destroy habitats and wildlife. Tourists may trample on plants, while others may collect eggs and feathers of birds as souvenirs. These tourists may also make too much noise which can disturb and frighten of animals. For example, Egypt's Red Sea coast has developed into a major diving and snorkeling destination for......

Hence, I think tourism should not be promoted in LCDs as the negative impacts are permanent and it also can affect the world. Although promoting tourism can improve the country's economy, tourism causes too many environmental impacts and the negative impacts outweighs the positive impacts

I believe that LDCs should not promote tourism as it is very costly and risky but it can also have advantageous as it provides job opportunities.

I believe that LDCs should promote tourism as tourism creates job opportunities allowing more people to have jobs this in turn gets greater GDP which allows the country to earn more as well. This will then help the country become a DC. Examples of jobs that are created are like taxi drivers and staff at hotels. An example of this is in 2011, the UNWTO estimated that the tourism industry employs more than 235 million people worldwide. Giving jobs to locals can allow people to earn more money this means they will spend more and the income earned contributes to GDP. this in turn helps the economy of the country.

It can also be bad because the country needs to invest millions of dollars to build attractions to attract more tourists to come to country. But many LDCs can't afford to pay that kind of money. they have larger issues at hand such as famine and unemployment. Underdeveloped country have very little money and may even be in debt. This means money is not something that they have an abundance of hence they may not be able to build attractive attractions to get tourists.

It can also be a risk as no country has used tourism to become a developed country. Singapore placed importance on Education to become a developed country in 50 years. Being the first country to become developed trough tourism is very difficult and it can be very costly.

In conclusion i believe that LDCs should not promote tourism as they would have many monetary issues and will not be able to pay off the costs to promote tourism. Even though it may create many job opportunities, other sectors also provide job opportunities such as the education sector which will be more successful in helping a LDC.

Tourism should be promoted in LDCs as this industry can offer many benefits that will help the country develop.
Firstly, tourism industry generates revenue, especially from hotels and food&beverage businesses. This revenue will help the country a lot to develop infrastructure and attractions and enjoy a growth in her economy. Hence, tourism boosts a country's economy and this money will help LDCs a lot in their development projects.
Secondly, tourism can create more job opportunities for locals, especially in the hospitality industry. For example, the number of workers working in travel agencies have increased over the years at Thailand due to growth in tourism.
I feel that tourism should be promoted in LDCs because tourism is capable of helping such countries enjoy a economic boost and create more job opportunities for locals. Despite the fact that LDCs do not have world-class facilities, infrastructure and attractions like the DCs, there will still be many tourists who will want to travel to such places to experience humble lifestyle. Hence, I feel that LDCs should try their luck to promote and invest in tourism.
