A linear pattern is where all math meets. A linear growing pattern, is when a pattern decreases or increases by a certain amount. For example, if someone where to start off with a square with 4 cubes that make it up, then another square with 8 cubes making it up, that's a linear pattern because its consistently growing at a certain rate each time.

A linear growing pattern Is a pattern that increases by a certain amount to get to the next term. It can also decrease. When you identiify these patterns it can help you figure out what the amount is going to be for a bigger number in the pattern. For example if term one was 100 and term two was 200 you can figure out that term five is 500. You can find this out with algebraic ecuations that’s corespond to the pattern.

By: Bruna

To identify, look at the pattern and create an input output chart, if you start to see the output growing in a static amount, (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11..) that is a linear growing pattern.
To represent a linear growing pattern, start by making an algebraic equation to correspond your pattern. For example, if your equation is n x 2, that would mean your pattern would start at 2 and grow by 2. This is one way to represent a linear pattern
-Minh

when identifying a linear pattern you are looking at something that is constantly growing by a certain rule. it is basically one shape, but that one shape is added onto itself in certain way so that it creates a pattern. for example; you have a square, and the pattern rule is to add two squares onto the next size of the pattern. so the next size will be 3 squares, and the next 5. then 7, 9, 11 and so on.

representing a linear pattern is where you yourself are either creating or following a certain rule of building up shapes to create a pattern. if you follow a rule that means that you are creating a existing pattern, you can even alter it if you want. creating your own pattern is also fun because you get to decide the shape and the rule you are following when creating your pattern.
