One of my biggest goals is to become a physical therapist. Either that's pediatric, special education or more focused on athletes. I don't care where it ends as long as I get the Doctorate in Physical Therapy. It's all about the journey for me. I never thought that I wanted to become a doctor, because when I think about doctors I think about the ones we see for our yearly check up. Until I found out that there are different forms of doctors, like DPT. When becoming a doctor I fulfill the goals of my parents and elders. I believe helping in others and tend to put others first. Achieving my goal, has purpose and not just mine.

Starting off with my major, I was really tempted to go to Normandale Community College to study Exercise Science, to become a physical therapist. But I came to the University for many reasons, to study at the School of Kinesiology. If I want to reach my goals I want to become the best at one of the best programs.

At OSR Physical Therapy they are currently hiring.The job requirements for this is to have a CPR certification and a license in physical therapy. If I lived back at home in Shakopee MN, this wouldn't be a far drive at all!

⭐️ Dr. Lauren Gutshall ⭐️

A physical therapist at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Sport Medicine in Shakopee MN. She love her job! She typically works with athletes for a very specific reason. Dr. Gutshall works best with athletes because they are more determined to get better and do the therapy assigned to them at home. She doesn't have much to complain about because she makes her own schedule. Dr. Gutshall also runs the athletic training department at the Shakopee High School.

Currently, I am already in KIN 1871 which is Survey to Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport. Hopefully next semester be enrolled to KIN 3027 which is Human Anatomy.

Writing within the job

Physical therapy has a lot of writing within the job. They have to write about treatment plans for every patient that walks through the doors. PT's have to write out at-home stretch for the patients. Also, they write about updates within the treatment plan and communicate with other healthcare workers.

In the article, I read there are 2 main careers you can do with Kinesiology at a doctorate degree. Physical therapy and research scientist. I found out that you could become a research scientist with a kinesiology major. They make around $95,565 per year!

I feel connected to physical therapy in endless ways. First, my biggest reason, Tiano my nephew who became physically disabled after the age of 3. After going through endless treatment plans, he still loves to go to PT. That moment I realized that I wanted to be able to help kids with disabilities, but in more of a medical way. He is truly my connection to physical therapy.

One of my biggest passions is helping others. Physical therapy is the perfect way, it's something active but reachable. A goal setting environment and there's purpose to PT. The way I described PT is how I describe the person I am.
