Members of the church create dioramas near the alter using statues that will appear in the upcoming procession. Fruits and vegetables are then placed on a sawdust carpet at the foot of the alter, (known as the "garden"), which symbolizes the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed before he was arrested.</p>]]></description>

Then on Maundy Thursday they start creating alfombras or saw dust rugs. They stay up all night creating so they are done by Good Friday when the parade start at 4 am in mourning. They mourn until 10pm on Saturday when churches start holding Easter Sunday services. </p>]]></description>
