Wladyslaw Szpilman

Wladyslaw Szpilman ( Al Legro ) was born in 1911 in Sosnowiec. In 1934 he started cooperation with Bronislaw Gimpel. Next year he started to be a full-time pianist in Polish Radio. In this period of his life he created famous songs, to radio and to films.
In 1940 Szpilman's familly go to ghetto. In 1942 all family died but Wladyslaw escaped with the help of Jaw Policeman. Then he was a construction worker but in 1943 he again escaped. Szpilman was hidden to 1944 when he must go away to ruins of burnt house. There he was discovered by a German's solider, who help him and was giving him food.
After war Wladyslaw return to work in Polish Radio. He died in 2000 in Warsaw.

He gratuated from the Kopernik lyceum when he passed the international baccelerate. During his studies at the institute of Polish culture at the Warsaw University he spent a year in London.

Penderecki studied music at Jagiellonian Universityand the Academy of Music in Kraków. After that, he became a teacher at the academy and he began his career as a composer in 1959 during the Warsaw Autumn festival.
