This provides the students an opportunity to share what they already know, allow them to learn from each other and add to their existing knowledge base about the topic, and to become personally connected to the topic.  I also try to connect whatever it is we are learning to real world examples, to help them understand the importance and relevance of the content being taught.</div>]]></description>

Many kindergartners come to school for the very first time and with many different skills. I assess those skills to look for a baseline and then I know where to go from there.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Relationships, relationships, relationships!  That's key!  Then, start with what they CAN do and move toward accomplishing what they aren't successful with YET!<br><br>I think this model is a great way to create engagement and allow for greater opportunity for informal (and even formal) assessment of student knowledge and their ability to apply their learning.  I liked that there is so much opportunity for differentiation and giving power to the student for their learning opportunities.  I also like that there is not a heavy reliance upon technology for the success of the model.  I think this will also lend itself well to the SpEd classroom as differentiation can be heightened and a "check-in with the teacher" station can be added.<br><br></div>]]></description>
