Mary is fully human, 100% human. Jesus is 100% human, but also 100% God as well. And in that comparison, we see that Mary, although not every remotely god-like, we see how she is an amplifier to the light and glory that Jesus presents to us. We call her mother because she is the caretaker of our souls, but the way for which we can find a deeper appreciation for God and the saints. In the way she emulated the ideals and values of all the saints and how God Himself told us to live is the best way to show how much Mary really wanted that deep relationship with Him. The feast day of Mary being the really "Queen Mother" to the people. God's people. And what's more is that she is in constant struggle and how she is able to overcome opposition to the Word of God and keep her children safe.
