Yuji Itadori was a normal high school student. He had abnormal strength and was apart of the occult club. His only living relative left was his grandfather. Unfortunately he was in the hospital. He told Yuji to use his abnormal strength to help people.

Yuji finds this strange warped object. He gives this object to his friends in the occult club to later inspect that night. A student from a different school, Megumi Fushiguro, gets sent to find that object. He doesn't find the object but sees Yuji's abnormal strength. yuji passes by Megumi and Megumi feels an overwhelming flow of cursed energy.

Megumi finds Yuji at the hospital after his Yuji's Grandpa dies. Megumi introduces himself saying he goes to Jujutsu High and is in search of a cursed object that Yuji had hold of. Megumi tells him that he needs that cursed object because its dangerous. Yuji tells him that he did find it but he gave it to his occult club members as he didn't think much of it. Megumi gives him the run down about curses and how having a cursed object at the school lowers the rate of cursed sprites. Yuji tells Megumi that his friends plan to unwarp the object to see what was inside at the school. Megumi starts to freak out and rushes over to the school to stop them from doing it. Once they unwarp it the seal is broken and a bunch of people will start dying. Yuji follows then stops just before entering the school because Megumi told him to as it was too dangerous for him.

After Megumi and Yuji fight off some curses and save Yuji's occult friends. Yuji eats the cursed finger that Megumi was looking for to gave the strength to defeat cursed spirits. After words Yuji gets knocked out and taken to a secret place. There he meets Satoru Gojo. Gojo tells him that he has two choices. One he can be exorcised since he is a cursed spirit now or he can collect the rest of Ryomen Sukuna's fingers then get exorcised. He wanted to save a lot more people so he chose to collect the rest of the fingers.

Yuji has to leave his old school and go to Jujutsu High with Megumi and train to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer. He will do this while also collecting the rest of Sukuna's fingers and absorb them. Before he officially leaves he says goodbye to his occult club members as his final goodbye to his normal world.

Yuji, Megumi, and Gojo meet up with the last first year at Jujutsu High, Nobara Kugisaka. Gojo takes them all to an abandoned building to test Nobara and Yuji. He wants to see if they're crazy enough to become Jujutsu sorcerers. They pass and Yuji continues to learn more about the great enemy that is Ryomen Sukuna.

Gojo assigns them their first mission. Their mission is to diffuse the cursed womb that was inhabiting a detention center. They encounter a special-grade curse which is way too strong for them. Yuji tells Megumi that he can fend off against the special grade while Megumi can find Nobara. Yuji gets his hand cut off and has to get the help of Sukuna.

Megumi gets Nobara to safety but Sukuna still has hold of Yuji's body. Sukuna fights Megumi until he rips Yuji's heart out. Sukuna gives back Yuji's body where he says his final goodbyes to Megumi while Megumi watches him fall to the ground and die.

Since Yuji died Sukuna died too. Unfortunately he didn't eat all of Sukuna's fingers so he wasn't fully gone.

Yuji made a deal with Sukuna should he could be bought back to life. Gojo decides to not tell anyone other than the 2 other people that know he's alive. Gojo trains Yuji to use cursed energy and cursed energy technique. This is done by watching movies and going on a mission with an old friend of Gojo's, Kento Nanami. Later on he makes friends with Junpei but then watches him die. There he also encounters the biggest enemy, Mahito.

Both the Tokyo and Kyoto schools meet up for their yearly Good-will event. This is where both schools will battle against each other to see their individual strengths and their group ones. This is when Gojo decides to unveil that Yuji is actually alive. Both schools make a plan for the event. The Tokyo school decides that each one will face off against one of the Kyoto schools kids and Yuji will be bait. The Kyoto school will focus on killing Yuji.

The event gets ambushed by a special-grade curse named Hanami. Before they actually ambush, Yuji takes on Aoi Todo and learns a few things from him. Todo also "adopts" Yuji as his brother because they have similar tastes in women. Then Yuji and Todo team up and stall Hanami before Gojo steps in and takes Hanami out. After that, they cancel the event and instead play baseball.
