All saints day is a highly religious celebration, with the main focus being praying for the dead to ensure their well being in the afterlife. Dia de los Muertos is much more joyful and celebrating the lives of the dead and the possibilities of their future in the afterlife.

Our culture views death as something not auspicious, and we alway avoid talking about death no matter in what kind of situation. However, we do have the dates and festivals when we memorials for our dead ancestors, which is one of the similarities when comparing to the cultures in which they celebrate the day of the dead. No matter it's at the day of the death memorial or not, we don't consider death as something worth celebrating, which is different from the day of the dead in the cultures where it is celebrated. Moreover, we take the things that our ancestors are fond of at the day of celebration, but we burned them in the end, aiming to let the flames bring the objects they like to the heaven with them, which is totally different than the day of the dead. Last but not least, the day of the dead is celebrated in a way where everyone is happy and cheering while the festival for ancestor memorial in my culture is not cheering at all, but considered to be the death days instead. People in China don't dress up either.

In Poland, All Saints Day is a far more serious holiday that surrounds commemoration and mourning, no matter if it has been a recent death or one many years ago, as opposed to the costumes and festivities seen in Latin America. One similarity may be visiting the dead again, for example Polish graves have commonly benches in front of them sometimes used for people as a gateway to just sit down and talk to our loved ones that have passed on. In Latin America, a similar idea is expressed through celebrating the dead and dedicating parades and a party-like atmosphere to them.
