TS1: It was only a matter of time for the allies to win the war
  • USA easily outproduced Japan in terms of war materials
  • If Japan is unable to keep up in terms of resources, it would be unable to sustain itself in the war
  • This meant that USA could easily due to it’s plentiful resources.

TS2: It caused much unnecessary suffering for civilians.
  • Adding on to the previous point about the allies on the verge of winning the war, these atomic bombs caused the innocent civilians of Hiroshima and Fukushima to experience such a disastrous bomb
  • Led to 150,000 innocent lives lost

TS3: It allowed for a quick end to the war.
  • The war was causing a major drain on resources and men for the allies, so they needed to secure a quick win
  • Japan was also sending out kamikaze pilots out of desperation
  • Therefore to reduce further lives lost for both sides, the atomic bomb the key to allowing war to end quickly.

  • Even though it did allowed for a quick victory, it still does not justify the means of causing 150,000 innocent civilians to die

The usage of the atomic bomb is necessary due to the unwillingness of Japan to surrender unconditionally. In order to prevent further conflict, the USA sought to make Japan surrender unconditionally, which would prevent them from feeling unfair about the arrangement like that of the Germans in WW1, which was arguably what started another war after the first great War. By using the atomic bomb, USA sent a fast and efficient message to threaten Japan into surrendering unconditionally., leading to a complete surrender of Japan,while preventing further conflict from happening in the far future.

However, usage of the atomic bomb can be consider unnecessary due to the fact that the Americans were winning the war at the time anyway. The Japanese leaders were also well aware that it is impossible for Japan to win, especially when they are fighting alone with no allies against Allied nations.
