The province covers 5,511.90 square kilometers (2,128.16 square miles) of land. According to the 2020 Census, it has a population of 2,068,244 people, accounting for 34.01 percent of the entire population of the Bicol Region, 3.33 percent of the whole population of Luzon, and 1.90 percent of the total population of the Philippines. The population density is calculated to be 375 people per square kilometer or 972 people per square mile based on these statistics.

The mean age of the population is 22 and the age group with the biggest population in Camarines Sur, according to the 2015 Census, ages 10 to 14, with 240,229 people. The age group with the lowest population, on the other hand, is 80 and over, with 15,366 people. 

When all age groups are combined, individuals aged 14 and under account for 36.35 percent of the young dependent population, which includes infants/babies, children, and young adolescents/teenagers (709,724). Those aged 15 to 64, or basically the economically active population and existing or potential labor force participants, account for 58.70 percent of the overall population (1,146,051). Finally, the elderly dependent population, which includes senior citizens aged 65 and up, accounts for 4.96 percent (96,769) of the overall population. The age dependency ratio is 70 dependents for every 100 working people, with 62 from youth and 8 from the elderly or senior citizens.

This enchanted bangus can be found in the Matukad Lagoon on Caramoan's Matukad Island. This secluded lagoon can only be reached and seen by climbing the island's rocks. The tale behind this mysterious fish, according to locals of Caramoan, began a long time ago, when a tidal surge came and flooded surrounding rocks on Matukad Island with water. This turned into a lagoon, where two "bangus" (milkfish) of unknown origin dwelt.

A fisherman discovered the lagoon at the time and witnessed the two milkfishes. He caught one to take home to his family. After eating the fish, the entire family died, and no one on Caramoan dared to capture the milkfish again after that.

Now, there are two milkfishes once again. According to the locals, the new milkfish strangely emerged, first as a fingerling but now about the same size as the other. According to the locals, they are the lagoon's guardians, and they rarely show themselves to humans, therefore seeing them is a fortunate or blessed experience.
