Act 1 Scene 5 when Lady Macbeth, Macbeths agent, hears of the scouts assessment of Macbeth as a quarterback and knows he must do anything to become the starting quarterback. She fears that Macbeth is too loyal to the team and the starting quarterback Duncan to do what he must to become the starter. Therefore, she questions Macbeths will to win at any cost and drive to be the best and Macbeth gives into her plan. Her plan is before the next game to mess with Duncan’s helmet padding so when he is tackled he will suffer irreversible brain damage and he will no longer be able to play football. Then Macbeth will take over as the starting quarterback.

Ambition- Macbeth the third string quarterback battles his own ambition as he knows he is good enough to become the starter and lead his team, but he also has a great deal of respect for the current starting quarterback Duncan. He ultimately decides to intentionally injure Duncan to become the starter because he believes it is best for the team. This is similar to Macbeths power struggle in the actual story Macbeth because Macbeth struggles on whether or not to kill Duncan to become king.

Guilt- After Macbeth Intentionally injures Duncan he gains the starting spot. Because of what he had to do to become the starter he is plagued by guilt and cannot play to his full potential. He ends up being a terrible starting quarterback because he second guesses all of his moves and lets his nerves get to him while he is on the field. This is similar to Macbeth in the actual story Macbeth because once he becomes king he is plagued by guilt and cannot lead without being overly paranoid of people coming for his spot as king.

Fate- Because the scouts told him so, Macbeth believes that it is his fate to become the starting quarterback. He believes that because the scouts told him it would happen he is able to take it upon himself to make it happen. This causes him to do terrible things to his teammates to make his destiny come true that he would have never done if he was never told his fate. This is similar to Macbeth in the story Macbeth because he kills and fights his own friends in order to achieve his destiny, but he would have never done those things if he was never told his destiny.
