During this he travelled to Europe and Asia on foot and boat, covering over 2800 miles. His journey began in Jerusalem before travelling to Antioch. After Antioch, Paul continued his journey to Tarsus then Derbe, Lystra, Iconium, Phrygia, Galatia and Troas. From Troas he sailed to Samothrace and then to Neapolis, the Roman colony of Philippi. His journey took   his message to Amphipolis, Apollonia, Thessalonica and Berea. After this, he travelled to Athens where he preached about Jesus and the resurrection. In the years of history lasting from 27BC to 146CE the Roman Empire was extremely powerful and controlled much of the Mediterranean. The Romans had the largest and most ruthless fighting force. The era of Ancient Rome supremacy was regarded as the most well-renowned periods of history. With control over 56.8 million people, it was able to dominate almost the entire of Europe and Eurasia because leaders of the Roman Empire provided peace, roads and trading routes. They also had the power to raid many of the countries. After the crucifixion of Jesus, Saul himself, along with Jewish leaders, were doing everything in their way to destroy the followers of Jesus. They were persecuted and were underground cults on the verge of being wiped out. The Roman Empire was a diverse society with many different cultures and religions interacting with each other. Greek, Hebrew and Latin were the main languages although regional areas used languages such as Syriac and Aramaic. Goods were transported by foot, boat and animals, especially along trade routes such as the silk road. Jesus appeared to him in a vision and Saul repented and was transformed into a messenger of the Gospel. Continuing to Damascus, he was baptised and took the name of Paul. This conversion was significant as Paul did not only preach to the Jewish, he aimed to convert people of all faiths. He preached and lived in Ephesus for two and a half years with the religion of Christianity growing rapidly. Paul wrote numerous Epistles to Individuals, Churches, Gentiles and Jews. While imprisoned, Paul was unable to preach, therefore he sent letters as a substitute for preaching. After exiting prison Paul continued to write Epistles. Paul wrote these letters to clarify what was important as people of faith and give instructions to his followers. When he wrote these letters, he promoted belief through stories of Jesus' birth, death and resurrection. He wrote to inform the Gentiles and Jews that they should focus on faith in God not the Jewish laws. Many of these letters were expressions on how Paul believed you should live your life, showing love and compassion for everyone. However, he preached that Christ's message was for everyone. An additional challenge St Paul faced was that he disputed many laws. For example, some Jewish Christians missionaries preached that the Christians should follow Jewish law and be circumcised. Paul believed and influenced them that faith in God is more important and matters most to God. We should not  worry about our own wants and desires,  instead look to other people and try and meet their needs. This message is applicable to individuals in their lives today in the situation where you buy food for someone homeless instead of buying your own little treat. This shows that you are thinking about everyone and putting others in front of you, demonstrating love and compassion. In the scripture reading, 3:12-14; one of the valuable messages displayed is that we shouldn't  be all caught up and dwell on the past, instead we should look forward and strive for our goals. In our lives people complain and blame others for the environment being ruined instead of looking at what is needed to be done and taking action. In the last scripture reference 4:6-9, a meaningful message was conveyed.  You need to pray to God and ask for advice on what you should do if you have worries, concerns, are in trouble or have a question. Your petition will be granted and God's peace will come upon you as God is always with you .
