There were two things that I had not considered prior to doing my research for this project. The thing that I had not considered before starting was what my netiquette was like. Although I know how to act respectfully and properly, I never considered if there were ever moments where I may have exhibited poor netiquette. I am sure there have been moments when I have spammed someone to get their attention and I’m sure one of those messages probably was written in all caps as well. That was not good netiquette of me looking back on it now. The other thing that I had not considered prior to research was how important netiquette is today since with the pandemic most modes of learning takes place on the internet. Since some schools are participating in virtual learning it never hit me at first how important netiquette is. When I was looking for material a lot of it was from recent and dealt with how to teach students proper netiquette. Even when the pandemic is over, I am going to make it a goal of mine to teach a lesson on netiquette so then whenever I do incorporate the use of technology/internet into my teaching my students will know the rights and wrongs of how to act when behind a screen.

 

            My research has confirmed and strengthened my thoughts/believes that when it comes to using technology. It is very important to make sure that you are showing the internet the correct version of yourself and not portraying someone you aren’t. Another thing that my research has confirmed is that you need to be aware of your words and actions when participating on the internet. It has also strengthened my belief that I need to make sure to teach netiquette in the future to the students so that like me they can understand the importance of it.
