PROPOSED AMENDMENT WORDING:

Students should have an approved hall pass with them when not in class, other than before school, lunch or after school.   These may include a yellow plastic bathroom pass or a signed school-approved pass.

• Special Class Circumstances:  
  • Students in courses requiring them to be out of the classroom “on assignment” should carry a specialized pass specific to their classroom. 
  • Students entering campus after the start of the day (from home, Tri-Tech, Seminary, Running Start) should enter through the main office and wait in the Commons if arriving prior to the 5-minute bell.

Let's stop pretending that the goal is "controlling" "specialized" classes.  The goal is to reduce the number of students  in the hallways which could produce a few positive results:
1.  Less interruptions from the hallways
2.  Fewer problems in the bathrooms,      hallways and locker rooms
3.  Increased student learning time.

If students need to be in the hallway to get class done, to use the bathroom etc.  and their teacher has set clear boundaries and expectations- they are not the problem.

Do they need a pass? What about drama/choir/orchestra/band students that are in the hallways practicing in small groups? Or teachers who have small groups of students working outside the room?
