Happiness

Happiness is like a butterfly that lands softly on your hand. It appears gently and unexpectedly, making people feel calm and happy. You can't force it to come, just as you can't make a butterfly stay if you try to hold it too tightly. Happiness is like the color of your life. Happiness is temporary, and when it's with you, it makes you feel light and free. But just like the butterfly, it may fly away when you least expect it reminding you to appreciate the moment and embrace the joy when it comes.

Parents Must Actively Monitor Their Children's Social Media Activity

Parents Must Actively Monitor Their Children's Social Media Activity

Social media is everywhere, and most kids use it daily. But have we stopped to think about the dangers they might face online? Cyberbullying, online predators, and harmful content are just a few risks that children encounter. Parents can’t just assume their kids are safe behind a screen. They need to step in, monitor their social media activity, and guide them toward responsible use. Some may say this is an invasion of privacy, but isn’t a child's safety more important? With that in mind, let us talk more about this issue. Good morning, Ma’am Guinto and my classmates.

One of the biggest dangers of social media is cyberbullying. Imagine a child being insulted, threatened, or humiliated online, sometimes by people they thought were friends. Many kids suffer in silence, afraid to tell their parents. One time, I was playing Roblox and got bullied because I was a bacon and I had no Robux. I ended up forcing my parents to buy me some, and it even affected my attitude. If parents were more involved, they could notice changes in their child’s behavior and step in before things get worse. Isn’t it better to prevent emotional damage than to try fixing it later?

Another major concern is online predators. Strangers can easily disguise themselves, pretending to be someone they’re not. How can a child, who is still learning about the world, recognize these dangers? Parents should be aware of who their kids are talking to and what kind of content they are consuming. No parent would let their child walk alone in a dangerous neighborhood, so why leave them unprotected in the digital world? I remember once talking to someone online who claimed to be a famous YouTuber. But it turns out, it was just some random guy trying to get me to share my info!

Some argue that monitoring children’s social media is a violation of privacy. But is privacy more important than safety? Parents don’t need to read every message or control every move. Instead, they can set boundaries, check in occasionally, and have open conversations about online risks. Teaching kids how to use social media responsibly while keeping an eye on their activity is a balance that every parent should strive for.

At the end of the day, parents have one job, to protect their children. The internet is full of dangers that young users may not fully understand. By being actively involved in their child’s social media life, parents can prevent harm, guide them toward safe habits, and build trust. Isn’t that what every child deserves? As students, we can also help by looking out for younger siblings or friends, educating them about the dangers of social media and encouraging them to talk to an adult if something doesn’t feel right. Together, we can all play a role in making the online world a safer place.
