House's team faces a diagnostic dilemma, as the symptoms seem to point to several different diseases.

What I basically learned from the episode I was assigned is that in many occasions not being sure of a specific diagnosis can lead to bad treatments or decisions by the medical staff, since after multiple tests, the Doctor diagnoses the patient with Cushing's syndrome caused by a small tumor in her adrenal gland. The tumor is successfully removed by surgery, which alleviates her symptoms and this leads us to understand that many times at first glance it may seem like something but not having the necessary tools can cause delays and complications in each patient.

Watching the "The Acceptance" episode of House, M.D. was a turning point in some many ways. It’s about a death row inmate who suddenly gets sick, and House takes on his case. The episode made me think about right and wrong, as the patient deals with his guilt and his upcoming execution.

House focuses only on solving the medical problem, not caring about the patient’s past. This made me think about how we sometimes separate our work from our feelings. The way House stays calm while the patient is in pain was striking.

There’s also a side story with Cameron, who struggles with her emotions while helping a dying patient. This felt relatable, especially when it’s hard not to get personally involved.

Overall, the episode made me think about judgment, redemption, and how we handle tough situations. It left a strong impression on me.

I learned that rabies, particularly from bat bites, can be an elusive and deadly diagnosis. Initially, the medical team overlooked rabies as a possible cause of the patient's symptoms. This highlights the importance of considering rabies in cases with unexplained neurological symptoms, especially when there is potential exposure to bats. The episode demonstrates the critical need for timely diagnosis and treatment, as rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

Then initially, the nun’s symptoms were misattributed to dishwashing soap, leading to inappropriate treatment with diphenhydramine and an adverse reaction requiring emergency intervention with epinephrine, which resulted in cardiac arrest. The case highlights the need for thorough investigation to identify the true allergen in this case, copper in the IUD. The resolution, involving the removal of the IUD and proper treatment, underscores the significance of addressing the underlying cause of an allergic reaction and the necessity of appropriate medication management and emergency response.

I learned a lot of very interesting things about the Deception episode of the second season of the Doctor House series. About the existence of the munchausen syndrome which is when patients suffering from problems such as depression, anxiety or abuse invent symptoms and go to the doctor just to be able to be hospitalized and receive a good treatment from the nurses and doctors. The truth is quite interesting because in the episode the person is taken to the hospital and they perform endless tests but always comes out well and in the end the diagnosis is the munchausen syndrome which is when patients invent symptoms to feel comfortable with the treatment they are given in the hospital.

It is also important to keep in mind that for the correct treatment of sindrome munchausen, it is necessary that the doctor is supported by a psychologist who will decide whether to give you therapy or leave you in the hospital. Furthermore, it will also depend on the medications given only when a good definitive diagnosis has been made.

Also I learnt that the doctor investigate about the diseases that the family of the patient had, but why? Because some diseases can be inherent from parents let’s say that as in AIP , so the doctors need to take into account all the different aspects that can help them to know what is happening or affecting the patient.

The episode I watched was very interesting, it's called "Autopsy" and I learned how important it is to acquire more knowledge, even if it's basic things, and I'm surprised by the knowledge that doctors end up having and how many times they must go beyond what they were taught. Dr. House treats cases in a very interesting way, in this case there was a girl who had cancer but apart from that she suffered from hallucinations, in short, after so much chaos, Dr. House proposed to perform an autopsy on her in which it was the only way to confirm that she suffered from metastasis, and that she had cancer in the brain, metastasis is when cancer spreads to other parts of the body, and I learned that it is a very common factor but the way in which these doctors handled it was unique. Since they practically killed her for exactly one minute to be able to perform the procedure and to revive her they were going to use the resuscitation method, because they induced something like a cardiac arrest. It's really a very interesting episode.

Excellent episode that manages to explore ethical questions in a complex way. In this case, House is wrong and he makes a reckless and irresponsible move because he can't accept it. Yes, he does find something to cure in the patient, but that result allows both him and patient to continue with their addictions and delusions. Cameron and House both break the rules and use deception in this episode. She traps the patient into revealing that she has Munchausen’s, but what she does is small compared to what House does. He puts the patient’s life at risk to be “right”.

Sarahí Mejia

In the episode of Doctor House. There were many things that I found interesting. For example, learn more about intrauterine devices. They are very common and many women choose to use this option to prevent pregnancy. But beyond just being in a birth control to prevent pregnancy, it is also necessary to be informed and know the risks that can have the use of the IUD. Many patients even forget that they have this device inserted in their uterus, it even tends to move out of place and out of the uterus. This can cause certain allergic reactions such as bleeding and pain as if the patient were on her period. In addition, there are 2 types of IUD's the Hormone IUD and the copper IUD. Some people have an adverse allergy called dermatitis caused by the copper in the device. It is very rare for people to develop something adverse to this copper device however it does happen. When it is in the uterus for a long time it tends to be ineffective and the material it is made of tends to break off and travel through the uterus and in rare cases outside the uterus.

To avoid this type of inconvenience, it is advisable for the patient who is using an intrauterine device to do annually checks up in order to verify that everything is working properly.
