1. SANGITHA A/P BALU
 A174949
 30 JULY 2022

2. During the 2nd week of my EP, I have mastered mounting the stitches and knit the stitches. I have learned about reverse stitches, openwork drawings, how to decrease or increase stitches. Reverse stitch, also known as purl stitch, is quite different from knit stitch and it produces different patterns on the fabric. In my openwork drawings, I have learned to perform both knit and purl stitches alternately to create unique patterns on the fabric especially garter stitch and herringbone patterns on the right side of fabric and stockinette patterns on the wrong side of fabric. I also learned to increase or decrease the stiches to alter the length of fabric while knitting. The most fun part is I have learned to read universal graphs for knitting that act as blueprints to create most of the fabric/garments with various designs. (the pics are below)

3. The important points that I must remember from 2nd week are techniques to perform reverse stitch, openwork drawings, decrease or increase the stiches and interpret the knitting graph.

4. During the 2nd week of my EP, i felt very challenged because of some complicated knitting techniques. I had to focus on every single step before I master them. One single mistake can ruin my fabric. As a beginner, I need to have a very good eye-hand coordination to produce good fabric texture.

5. One good thing from what I have learned that I can practice now is I can knit the basic stitches to create different designs in my fabric.

6. Sometimes, I tend to miss my steps and as a result, the texture of my fabric is affected and I have to restart the whole row or the whole fabric from the beginning. I also find difficulties in controlling the needles and yarns in both of my hands and avoid as many confusions as possible while knitting. But, I learnt from my mistakes and kept practicing till I have good flow in knitting.

7. I am planning to learn circular knits, my garment measurements and structures next week.

Zarif Izzuddin Bin Zyrean
A174717
31/07/2022

2. How is your progress?

Assalammualaikum, da jia hao, eppadi irukinga, to my esteemed supervisor, Prof Madya Dr. Noor Dina Binti Hashim, legendary coordinator and Komanden(the most pro), Dr. Syamsa Rizal Abdullah, and to my dear peers and friends, welcome back to my elective posting project update. Alhamdulillah, so far I have been making progress and learning a lot of new things, and as promised, this week I was given the opportunity to learn the ropes on banquet service, which has its own different approaches and procedures compared to restaurant services discussed previously. Banquet service is much simpler to understand and do, and basically revolves around events, and provide extra hands at the restaurant if no events are scheduled. Shift wise, it has the same shifts since still under F&B as usual, and is usually scheduled according to the event of the day, and any upcoming events. Banquet halls are located one floor above the restaurant. Routine is all the same, what varies slightly is most probably the job scopes. Mainly, it involves setting up and clearing up after the event is done. Preparing can be done sometimes a day before, sometimes during the day if the event is at night, and sometimes prepared two days before in cases of big events. Preparing depends on the scale of the event, what is ordered, and what event is being carried out. It could range from seminars, to school reunions, even health screening too! So in general, I will help along to arrange the tables and chairs according to the amount of people involved in the event, with mineral water, glasses, any stationery if needed, and cooperate with the technical team to set up the PA system, the monitors, projectors and so on. For events that involve food, usually it is done in buffet style, and the job scope is similar to the buffet at the restaurant, but is arranged from scratch, so more energy is used, from the utensils to the arranging, and clearing during and after the event like the usual buffet job scope. Banquet service has way less manpower, usually 3 people only involved, so work wise it is much more tiring, but more satisfying, knowing the event is going on successfully thanks to the hard work put into setting it up and making sure it goes on like clockwork.

3. Points to remember from week 2!

- Never look down upon the preparation for banquet services, the true unsung heroes behind the magnificent set up for events that are carried out, and I am lucky to be part of it.

- Always be ready to help around and work overtime, as sometimes some events have sudden changes, or will exceed the scheduled time, which will require OT done to settle it.

4. Your feelings & thoughts

- I feel humbled and much more grateful, and appreciate the hardwork people that are in charge to set up the place for events scheduled, with less manpower, but tiptop work ethics, and being part of the process teaches me the importance and value of it practically, for life.

 - I feel more knowledgeable, learning more new things as the weeks progress, two main F&B services covered, and get to improve my body coordination and effectiveness.

5. ONE good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

Honestly ever since first day I have been learning new things, and from what I have done this week, I believe what I can practise from now would be time punctuality, which of course not only applies to this service, but for everything we do. It has taught me to be very punctual, and realized the satisfaction it gives being on time always, and avoiding any mishaps or misunderstandings with the management, and anyone involved too.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Alhamdulillah there were no difficulties or concerns that I have faced, everything went smoothly, with cooperative co-workers and good work ethics practise.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

For week 3, my plan is to dive into another main service offered by F&B, which is room service, which so far based on observation, seems fun and different from the other two services mentioned. It is going to be another great experience, and more knowledge to be gained, and I look forward to it.

Nur Hannah binti Mohamed Nazren Azle
A174829
31 July 2022

2.

For my second week, I get a chance to learn how to greet people and ask someone's nationality or jobs in Korean. Also, how to answer those questions in Korean. After watching the provided videos and doing some practice, I am now able to introduce myself and greet people in Korean.

3.

Points to remember for this week:

In Korean, to say our names, we say the family name first and then the first name. Eg: Lee Minho unlike in English, we say Minho Lee, where the first name first and then the last name.

Hello in Korean is pronounce as 안녕하세요, ‘annyeonghaseyo’.

I learnt that if someone is younger than me or friends of the same age, I can simply use ‘annyeong’. If someone is older than me, I should use in a more formal way, ‘annyeonghaseyo’ or ’anyyeonghasimikka’. This is because the honorifics system in Korea is complex, therefore the type of speech varies according to one's age or position in society.

When there is an interrogative word such as, when, where, who, what, why, how. You must lower the tone at the end and when there is no interrogatory word you raise the tone

4.

I enjoy learning new things for this week and had fun throughout the learning process. It is not as hard as I thought it would be. I am sure that I will be able to interact in Korean in the future.

5.

One good thing from what I have learned that I can practice now is I am able to introduce myself in Korean when interacting with Korean people.

6.

There were no difficulties or any concerns that needed to be worried as the provided materials are really good and understandable.

7.

My plan for next week is to watch the provided videos and read the notes given and continuously to score the graded quizzes.

Divyachandricca A/P S Anbarasu
A175140
31/7/2022

2. For week 2, I first went through the basics of Bharathanatyam again with my master before learning new steps from her for a dance piece. I learnt about one fourth of the song so far [Videos 1 till 4]. I also put my knowledge from the past week to use where I helped my master teach her junior students. I taught the younger ones a new step [Video 5] and helped the slightly older students polish their steps [Video 6] which they will be doing in their Salangai Pooja at the end of the year. Salangai Pooja is kind of like a primary school graduation of Bharathanatyam.

3. From week 2, I would remember how important basics are. I would also remember to always recognize my limits. I need to know how much my body and brain can accept when learning the new steps. I also learnt patience especially when it came to teaching the juniors students. Some of them aren't even in school yet and they need a bit more attention and patience than the rest. I also need to try different approaches with different students. For some students, I can just show them the whole step and they would pick up on it but for others, I need to put in a bit more effort. I would have to show them two steps at a time and also count with them.

4. I have always enjoyed teaching people and people have told me that I am good at it. I am glad I am able to put that talent or skill to use and help my master out a bit. I am also excited to be learning the steps for the dance piece. I enjoy seeing how everything I have learned comes together to create a complete piece. I also have a sense of accomplishment when I am able to do the steps completely next to my master.

5. One good thing I can practice now is varying my approach with different people. Not only when teaching the students in class, I can apply this on a daily basis as well. For example, I cannot explain things to my grandma the way I do to my parents. In the medical field, I will need to take different approaches with each patient.

6. A difficulty I faced this week is teaching the young students. Some of them needed to be guided all the way. I coped with this by first observing how my master handled the students and tried to learn her ways of teaching. But as I kept going, I found my own ways of helping the students. A concern of mine is being able to catch up with the steps in a short amount of time and what will I do if I happen to forget some of the steps. I believe practicing with the other senior students will help me overcome these concerns.

7. My plan for next week is to continue learning the dance piece. I might join the other senior students during classes and their practices.

Divaharan Subramanie
A175138
31 July 2022

Second week of learning photography was a bit challenging as there were a lot of rules and techniques that i learned. I learned how to use the exposure triangle which involves adjusting the ISO, Aperture and shutter speed to come up with a sharp image with the best lighting. I also learned about the rule of third where the subject focus is placed in the grid point. I practiced a lot by applying this rules and techniques and i was really surprised of how my pictures turned out to be. (I have included the before and after picture). I went to few places to practice the skills that i have learned and was really glad i get to learn the skills.

Some of the points to remember from my week 2 learning is that learning a new skills requires a lot of patience and practice. It is also important to be confident in myself that i too can be a great photographer and it will take some time but will be worth it.

During my second week of learning photography i was a bit worried if i can take amazing pictures like the professional photographers who does it so easily. I was surprised to learn the many rules and techniques to take a nice pictures as i thought photography was easy. Things got better and i was really glad that with more practice i started to take quite nice pictures applying all the rules and technique

I am glad that i did not give up and continue to learn and practice so that i can improve myself. I also went out to explore new places to take some nice pictures.

Some of the difficulties i faced was to understand the rules and the techniques of photography as it was quite complicated and requires to constantly adjusting the setting according to the image wanted. It was really hard at first and the pictures turned out to be not well composed but with more practice it became easier.

My plan for next week to learn more in online and i have planned to go somewhere so that i can take amazing pictures of different cultures. WELL, THE PLACE IS A SURPRISE FOR NOW (STAY TUNE FOR NEXT WEEK UPDATE)

1. My name is Ang Zi Qi, my matric number is A174612
31/7/2022

2. Progress during Week 2
During Week 2, I have further improved my reading and pronunciation of the basic syllabus of Hangul by practices. I could read the syllabus slowly on the signboards when I was in South Korea, such as 서울 (Seoul), 부산 (Busan), 충무로역 (Chungmuro Station) and so forth. Besides that, I have started to learn basic skill on how to greet people, ask someone's nationalities or jobs and how to answer those questions as well as introduce myself in Korean!

Other than that, I actually applied the skill I learnt for greetings during the conference in Seoul. I was able to greet my Korean friends using basic greetings and introduce myself! They also helped me to translate my name into Hangul, which is 홍지시 (Hong Zi Si), a direct pronunciation translate from my Chinese name in Pinyin, Hong Zi Qi.

3. Points to remember from week 2!
a) I have learnt how to greet a person for the first time. Other than 안녕하세요(annyeonghasaeyo) that we always use, there is other ways to greet for different groups of people. For example, to be less formal among younger people or same age, we can simplify and say 안녕 (annyeong); to be more formal and respectful we can use 안녕하십니까 (annyeonghasibnikka). This is due to different levels of honorific system in Korean which is quite complicated.

b) I have learnt how to introduce myself and my nationality to other people.
저는 홍지시 예요. I am Ang Zi Qi.
체 이름은 홍지시 예요. My name is Ang Zi Qi.
저는 말레이시아 사람이에요. I am from Malaysia.

c) I also learnt different terms of occupation in Hangul, such as:
기자 journalist
학생 student
기수 singer

4. Feelings and thoughts
I am still feeling excited for the Elective Posting as learning a new language and able to apply it is so cool! It makes me feel more engaging while mingling with them!

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
I found that it was hard to correctly pronounce the syllabus as I was not familiar with the correct tone and pronunciation. Thus, I would ask my Korean friend to help and correct my pronunciation so that I could pronounce accurately.

7.

Danushvar A/L Maheswaran
A175190
31st July 2022

How is your progress?

To enhance my knowledge on baking, I managed to complete the quizzes from four sections of the baking course from UDE.MY throughout week 2. I baked moist brownies which was in my bucket list for a very long time. When it comes to desserts, brownies is always top tier. Again, I decided to follow recipe from Oh Yum with Anna Olson as her recipe for my chocolate chip cookies dupe that I conformed to earn some credits from my family and friends which I rarely receive. Before the baking process, I did some research on the Internet to not make any flaws or be careless during my baking session. To be honest, this is the very first time I am making brownies in my entire life.

Points to remember from week 2

I've learnt that it is important to let the brownies cool down before cutting it into small cubes. This will help to portion the brownies into perfect squares. Besides that, do not mix the brownies batter off the track as it can incorporate too much air into the brownies and cause a change in the texture of the brownies (making it more cake like). Next, to make sure the brownies are not over-baked by determining it by using the toothpick technique and cross-checking the oven temperature.

Your feelings & thoughts

I felt amazed and overwhelmed for this week because the outcome of my brownies took me away. I was nervous at first when I was baking because this was my very first attempt in making brownies as well as worried on the temperature of the oven by double-checking it frequently. So, after baking here comes the serving part. Based on my description above, I guess you guys could predict on my family members' reaction. Some brownies were sent to my cousins nearby as well to try it out. The response was overwhelming that I fluttered undoubtedly. It felt as though my effort to look for the guidelines and the best recipe for brownies paid off as the saying goes "hard work pays off".

One good thing from what you did that you can practice now

Never give up. Here, I learnt that failure is an option and a learning experience. My first few brownies that failed during this attempt made me realize that giving up never should be a decision made neither in baking nor in life, especially after looking at the feedbacks which lifted me and provided me strength to pursue in baking as a part time job in the future. As they say, practice makes perfect. Baking is basically full of trials and errors and I should remind myself to never give up in this journey which was full on ups and downs.

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

The only difficulty I faced was the same as before, which was regarding the oven's temperature adjustment. Otherwise, I did not encounter any trouble along the way.

Your plan for next week (Week 3)

For next week, I would take it up a notch and bake chocolate cup cake, something I never thought I'll be capable of doing. I will purchase the baking products needed at Bake with Yen a nearby pastry shop for the cup cakes. Also, I'll be working on my video and also surf the net for the recipes.

Week 2 : Mandarin Chinese Class

Kareshma Nair A/P Pathmanathan
A174923
31 July 2022

2.

In week 2 of my mandarin course, we learn on how to express numbers, time, years, month and dates. So far it has been great and I managed to learn a few new words in Mandarin such as xia ke (class dismissed), shang ke (to have class), ji dian (what time) and xian zai(now). Initially, it was quite hard to pronounce these words but I kept practicing with my nephew until I am able to pronounce it correctly.

3.

In Mandarin, dian (o’clock) ,ban(half) , fen(minute) , ke (a quarter) are often used in expressing time. If the time is 1 o’clock, we can only use the number plus o’clock. For example yi dian (1 o’clock). If the time is half past eight, it will be pronounced as ba dian ban. I also learnt that we need to put time before the verb or the phrases in a Chinese sentence.

I learnt that weeks are express in numbers in mandarin. For example, ‘xing qi’ is week in Mandarin. Monday is ‘xing qi yi’,Tuesday is ‘xing qi er’, Wednesday is ‘xing qi san’ and so on. It’s the same for months too. There are 12 months in a year. We need to put numbers before the word ‘yue’ (month). For example, ‘yi yue’ (January), ‘er yue’ (February) and so on. As for the date, we say the month first and then the date. For instance, September 10th (jiu yue shi hao).

4.

I am feeling happy with my progress. How is your progress?

I completed two additional new courses during the second week of my elective posting. The first one (Xianzai ji dian/the What's time?) focuses on how to represent numbers and time in Chinese. The following section, "What is the date today?" teaches me how to inquire about days, dates, and months from other people. Sum it up, each lesson in the course has taught me a number of useful vocabulary and everyday phrases that I can use.

3. Points to remember from week 2!

Xianzai = now, Jintian= today, xingqi = day, Yue = month, hao = date

4. Your feelings & thoughts

I'm happy and I've only come to realise how important it might be to be able to count in a language in order to communicate and comprehend others.

5. ONE good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

Every time I glance at my watch, I can tell the time and dates in Mandarin.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

I still have a rough time fully grasping the lessons about tones. In order to solve this problem, I have watched extra materials from Youtube to fully understand the tones.

7. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

Halfway through this course is where I am now. Next week, I want to make sure that I submit all of the reports by the deadline.

Week 2 : Receipt Management

Aisyah A174651 28 July 2022

1. For the second week, I am learning on how to manage receipts for all kind of transaction, such as credit/debit card, online merchant: GrabPay,ShopeePay,Boost/TnGEwallet, Local Account, Shell Card and as well as Shell Voucher. We also need to keep a receipt everytime we do a touch n go topup and bill payment. The receipt must be kept at their respective plastic and will be submitted to the office by the end of our shift.
As for my target to reduce the amount of short during my closing shift, I’ve managed to achieve a balance of 0.00! It was a great improvement for me, as my other workmate claims that among them there’s only one person so far who’ve achieved 0 balance.

2. It is very important to manage the receipt accordingly, as it will not only be used by the office for their auditing and sales record, but also in case of future reference if there’s any claim or problem from the customer.

3. Feelings & Thoughts
Entering the second week, I’ve finally grasp and familiarise myself with all the step. I noticed that I’ve become faster and accurate in setting the fuel product and pump, and making lesser mistake compared to the last week. Im relieved, but at the same time I still need to keep in mind that I need to be cautios.

4. Memorisation Skill
As the transaction process are fast, yet varying from all kind of aspect—some customer wanted to shop their groceries first and then fill their tank, some wanted to pay their bills as well as reload their touch n go, some wanted to fill their tank and at the same time purchase a mobile topup or maybe a cigarette product, and many more varying purchase, it is important for me to listen, understand, and memorise the product as well as the amount correctly, therefore allowing myself to perform a multitasking purchase.
This skill is very much needed when working to ensure you’re using your time effectively and get the workload done accurately.

6. My concern is still about minimising mistake during transaction, as this will cause a prolonged transaction process. Its all about fast and critical thinking while my fingers dancing on the screen inserting all the products, fuel type and transaction, and counting the cash before putting and exchanging balance.

7. Learning on how to make a bonuslink redemption and voucher.

1. Mus'ab Bin Mohd Hasyahril A174993 28/7/2022

2. I am very grateful with my progress because I had made the best version of cookies that i have ever made. The crispiness of the cookies was perfect. Not to forget the taste of the cookies were scrumptious. It had a little bit of sweet and also salty which balance the experience of the cookies. I realized that i had an improvement of presentation. Which I had made the cookies in a uniform thickness and shape. Thus, it is easier for me to store the cookies in the right container.

3. Never stop trying

4. I am feeling blessed and grateful. This hands-on experience of baking help to me to enjoy the little things in life. Sometimes we need to appreciate the moment and be mindful about our thoughts and action.

5. Using measuring spoon and cup during cooking session.

6. Selling cookies may sound simple but there is a cost behind it. Everything of the materials, equipment, packaging and storing might use a plenty of cash. So, I need to think about getting profit off this business. Does is it profitable or I will lose money in the hidden cost. I need to calculate the detail of the cost. So, I know to put my price, to ensure the sale is greater than manufacture and other costs.

7. Improving my packaging and storing
