2. June 25, 1950 - A huge artillery bombardment from North Korea signals the beginning of the Korean War. North Korea did this because they wanted to reunite under communism.
3. June 27, 1950 - The United Nations Security Council adopts Resolution 83, allowing United Nations to provide military assistance to South Korea.
4. September 12, 1950 - North Korean troops reach their farthest point in advance. Although, thousands of United Nation troops have arrived to reinforce South Korea.
5. July 27, 1953 - North Korea concludes the war with an armstice. A demilitarized zone follows, roughly around the border of the 38th Parallel.
