         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the span of less than five years, three major amendments were added to the constitution - all to support the rights of African Americans. Why was it so difficult for these amendments to be enforced, especially in southern states?<br><br>1. It promotes digging deeper by making the student think about the difficulties African Americans faced even after the war.<br><br>2. It's debatable because it didn't happen everywhere, and some people could assume that law enforcement wouldn't hold bias against laws.<br><br>3. I want to answer it because the significance of the three amendments, and it is also important to understand the struggle of former slaves even decades after the end of the civil war.&nbsp;<br><br>4. Students should care about it because racism is very much alive today, and it all stems from the Civil War<br><br>5. It is not too academic, I think it allows them to think critically without leaving the document given to them.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Should the Reconstruction era be considered a success or a failure?&nbsp;<br><br>1) It promotes digging deeper because it makes students analyze the changes that this era brought about.&nbsp;<br><br>2) Because it is open-ended, students can consider multiple perspectives when thinking about how Reconstruction effected American society.&nbsp;<br><br>3) Students would be motivated to answer the question in their own way through evidence they would find to back their answer.<br><br>4) The period of Reconstruction was a time where the United States were going through a major societal and political changes. Legislations made during the Reconstruction period are still relevant and used today, such as the amendments. Additionally, the social consequences of reconstruction can be felt today as well.<br><br>5) The question is simple and easy to read, so it is not too academic.<br><br>6) The question is open-ended and will prompt more questions to help students reach their own answer. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

It is debatable because people could say he should be convicted or not be convicted.<br>3. It interests us because it brings up what could've been an alternative history or a what-if scenario in history.&nbsp;<br>4. Students would care about it because if it went the other way it could change history and change the outcome we know of today. <br>5. It's not too academic as long as you don't make it, you can do as much research as you want or think is necessary<br>6. It leads to more questions and you can take it in multiply different directions.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It is debatable due to there remaining the possibility for people to still have differing opinions on what informal slavery would look like.<br>3. Yes, due it allowing for people to see the different ways to people reacting to a huge change in society.<br>4. Students would care about it because what occurred during this period still affects society, and the Black community specifically, today.<br>5. It is not too academic in that it is not too formal and promotes interests, which bringing in the social aspect of a hardline period in time.&nbsp;<br>6. Yes, due to Reconstruction having lingering effects on other minority groups, sparking interest in the interpretation of laws from that period. (How did Reconstruction leave room for the continued oppression of Blacks?)</div>]]></description>
